Today, as a member of the community, I made the mistake of stopping by Humboldt Hydroponics in Arcata.

I realize that these kind of things are touchy. I moved here from NC, so I really do understand.

We moved here because my girlfriend and I are 215 patients and we wanted to be able to medicate in a relaxed environment. I was in Arcata today to try to find the 215 dispensary, which is located right next to your store. I was having trouble finding my way, so I walked into your store and asked if there was a dispensary close by. One person spoke up and said that they didn't have anything to do with that stuff and they couldn't answer my question. As I started to leave, the person "in charge" spoke up and said "we have to ask you to leave", then the other said sarcastically that I should try looking in a phone book..

I went straight to the police department in Arcata because after calling your store to complain about the way I was treaded I was told that 215 medication was illegal. I was also told that it is impossible for me to contact the owner of the store.

Well, the police in Arcata told me that it was legal and they gave me directions to the dispensary!!!

My problem is not with what your employees said, it's with how they said it. Those guys are just a bunch of stoners waiting for a chance to be a dick to somebody. I was already leaving when they started being sarcastic. Their sarcastic comments about how I should learn to use a phone book were completely uncalled for.

If you need someone to handle public relations for your store in Arcata, I could help you. I could tell potential customers and members of your community not to mention 215 without being extremely rude to them. For a bunch of stoners like that to be sarcastic to a 215 patient is totally hypocritical.

Word of mouth is your best advertisement, and stuff like this gets around really fast. I'm going to be posting this email on as many message boards that I can find tonight, and I will make mention of this anytime someone mentions your business.

Man don't get so hostile. What if they had a sign in there that said if you ask speak or talk about MARIJUANA you gotta get? You wouldn't be bitchin if a head shop kicked you out because you mentioned mary j, bong, bowl or something like that would ya? Its kinda the same situation, plus did you ever make it to the dispensary? If you anwser yes, toke a bowl of the chronic you probably got and forget it ever happened!! BEST SOLUTION

well, they told me i wasn't welcome in the store because I'm a 215 patient and they said they don't want people like me in their store. The big deal to me is that the same guys are most likely 215 patients themselves and it's not illegal to tell someone there is a dispensary next door...

They have every right to kick you out of their store, as has been pointed out.

As a seller of hydroponics equipment, they want to distance themselves from marijuana as much as possible. Hydro equipment can be used to grow anything, and they want to market it to more than just marijuana growers.
Rude? yes.
Unpleasant? yes.
Warrented in their situation? Hell yes.

It's the same reason you'll get booted out of a headshop for even mentioning marijuana.
