Default Can anyone fill me in?

I live in Maine and have a disease called Lumbar Degenerative Disease, basically my back is screwed. My question is does anyone know if I qualify for medicinal marijuana? I have back spasms fairly regularly if i stop smoking, but its not the primary characteristic of the disease, meaning not everyone gets the back spasms. would I still qualify? thanks anyone who can help.

peace
Justin

ASA*:*Becoming a Patient in Maine

Under Maine's medical marijuana law, a person may be recommended marijuana for the following conditions:

1. Persistent nausea, vomiting, wasting syndrome or loss of appetite as a result of:
1. Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) or the treatment thereof; or
2. Chemotherapy or radiation therapy used to treat cancer;
2. Heightened intraocular pressure as a result of glaucoma;
3. Seizures associated with a chronic, debilitating disease, such as epilepsy; or
4. Persistent muscle spasms associated with a chronic, debilitating disease, such as multiple sclerosis

Nothing a simple Google search wouldn't fix for you. Go to your doctor, tell him/her that you have chronic persistent muscle spasms due to your disease, and you'd be interested in trying Marijuana in an attempt to remedy the situation.

Be prepared to doctor shop as your current doctor may not be MJ friendly.

One should choose their doctor first and foremost based on the Quality of the care he or she provides. Weather or not a doctor is willing to recommend Marijuana can be influenced by their personal belief, yes, however this does not mean that just because you find a doctor who is willing to recommend it that it is the proper course of action.

You should have an honest discussion and dialog with your doctor, first and foremost.
