I saw this as I was cruising the news, if this goes unanswered, it will influence the opinions of voters.
This fellow is obviously biased.
Anyone want to answer this?
I highly suggest it.

Supreme Court case.

MEDICAL MARIJUANA HOAX

The Supreme Court has unanimously decided that smoked marijuana has "no currently accepted medical use."

The forces' seeking to legalize drugs want smoked marijuana listed as a medicine to legitimize marijuana. Marijuana as medicine has been rejected by the American Medical Association, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the American Glaucoma Society, the American Academy of Ophthamology and the American Cancer Society. The federal Institute of Medicine sees "little future in smoked marijuana as a medicine."

The major reason to reject smoked marijuana as medicine is that numerous safe and effective medicines are available for all the conditions marijuana supposedly helps. The scientific literature also shows that marijuana use is a major risk factor in the development of addiction and drug use among schoolchildren.

As a cancer survivor, I am appalled at how seriously ill people have been victimized by the cruel hoax of medical marijuana. It is not compassionate to give marijuana cigarettes to anyone, especially sick people. They may mistakenly choose marijuana instead of truly effective medicines. Medical marijuana is a fraud and I am glad the Supreme Court saw through it.

This guy is completely misinformed.
I'm new here, but I am not stupid. He obviously didn't consider what all those legal meds do to your system, ie:
liver failure
nausea
high blood pressure
kidney damage
headaches
heart failure
death (remember Phen Phen?)
the list goes on, not to mention addiction.
I am disable and in severe pain. I am addicted to Darvoset. I have been taking it for about 4 years and I take 4 at a time to help deal with the pain. It isn't working very well I might add. I have tried several other pills, narcotic and non-narcotic. They either don't work or they make me very sick. If I stop taking the Darvoset I soon start having withdrawels.
I am currently trying to see if I can get a prescription for medical marijuana in Virginia as a friend uses it for a similar situation with excellent results. Only problem is I can't find what the laws are here in this great commonwealth concerning medical marijuana.
People are ready to condemn marijuana, but what about tobacco? I use to smoke, I quite because smoking and my meds didn't mix, my blood pressure went through the roof.
The plain simple fact of tobacco is that it kills, it killed my father and it is killing thousands everyday, but you can still buy it.
How about alcohol? It kills too. Don't get me wrong, I like a cold beer every now and then. My point is about all the lives it has ruined. Again thousands of people die each year from drunk driver's, liver damage, heart failure and the list goes on and on.
Families are ruined by alcoholism. When was the last time you heard of someone getting stoned on pot and beating their wife or kids?
I don't know what the big deal is about legalizing it. As the old saying goes, Man made booze and God made weed, Who do you trust?
I seriously think we should all get together in front of the White House on the next election or income tax day and not vote or not file our taxes. Could you imagine the mess the IRS will be in. They'll have to hire 3 people for every individual that didn't file. 2 to run around asking questions, shuffling papers and one to say I don't know, I will have to ask my supervisor (LOL).
You may think it silly, but take a second and truely consider the damage it could cause. They would actually have to listen to us for a change.
Whatever happened to a government of the people, by the people and for the people? When did we let them enslave our very souls? More importantly how do we get it back?
They are so eager to give theirselves a raise or help to increase a friends real-estate investment or line the pockets of HMO's or auto and home insurance companies and the disgustingly rich and taxless.
I think the problem is a plain tax revenue issue. If they legalized it, everyone would simply grow their own to avoid being reamed by our loving perverted uncle Sam.
I know you may just think I'm ranting and this has probably all been said before and don't get me wrong I do love my country, but please someone explain why marijuana can't be legalized, but yet I can go down to the corner store and buy a pack of cancer sticks that will one day with out doubt kill me? Wher's the logic in that?
Something is terribly wrong here. We have been herded and coralled for so long we have grown to expect it, accept it and ask for it to be done. Unless we stand up and say enough is enough and stop debating and pondering why, nothing will happen.
One thing has become painfully true and that is the government and the president hates bad plublicity.
Look at some of the helmet law repeals. Bikers got involved and started asking questions, offering answers and writing laws that made good common since.
You may think that marijuana is way different than a helmet, but I say a law is a law and you have to act, possibly get in their faces and make them notice us.
I can go on as I am sure that most of us can about what can or should be done and how stupid this or that is, but it's all just words until we do something, anything to say enough is enough. Shout at the top of our lungs, "We demand our freedoms, our God given rights, and the safe return of our souls".
Thanks for perusing this rambling. Maybe one day America really will be free.

Cool Question?

Has the author of this article ever smoked or used the herb?If not then I don't think he has the right to critisize anything.

Default Another outrage

For your information, yes I have as if it's anyone's business, but my own. The point I am making in case you didn't understand is that medical marijuana should be readily available to those that need it. It has far less side affects or adverse reaction than most prescription meds.
The other point is that you can go to your corner store and buy cigarettes, which I use to smoke also, but had to quite due to it and my pain meds causing me very high blood pressure, but to get back to the point, you can buy a drug, tobacco is a drug, off the rack and it has been proven beyond any doubt to kill people. It killed my father, it has killed hundreds of thousands of people, but yet it is still legal. Go figure.
My final point is, unless we get off our butts and do something, like the bikers did, not that nothing at all isn't being done, but more could be is the point and until more people become involved in the issue it will always just be an issue and not a law.
It's like anything else, until you educate the ignorant and get someone to listen, really listen, it will al just be words and the issue will only be as a mosquito bite, yeah it's bothersome now, but eventually it will go away.
Don't take this as an insult and please don't think I am trying to start a flame war. I am simply trying to answer your question and clarify my statements.
I am not saying to pull tobacco or alcohol off the shelves either. The point is that marijuana should be right there with it. If we have freedom to choose alcohol and tobacco, why then can't we have the freedom to choose marijuana?
As an adult I feel the government shouldn't be able pass laws that remove or hinder my freedom of choice. Like the helmet law, the seatbelt law, and weather or not I can buy, smoke or grow marijuana.
They are chipping away at our freedoms and we are letting them take it inch by inch.
There are drugs being used in other countries to help with AIDS, certain types of cancer and several other illnesses, but since the pharmacutical companies can't make any real profit, they lobby to keep them out and what if someone had discovered that marijuana cured some sort of terrible decease in another country? I would bet money that hell would freeze over before they allowed it here.
I truely believe that if we rally at the White house like the bikers and other activists, that they will listen and maybe, just maybe something will change for the better.
Just because I am new here to this forum don't think I don't have a brain, experience or concern. Don't sell me short because I may have a different way of looking at things and don't sell yourself short by closing your mind to any idea or to a way of looking at the same thing with a different perspective.
My final point is, unless we stand up and shout at the tops of our voices and draw THE line in the sand and say we will only go this far and no further. We will not be taken seriously and our voice will continue to be the buzz of the little mosquito.

Unhappy

Has anyone thought that a drug companies might also be paying people to say things like this in articles etc.? Because the way this person was talking sounded more like an endorsment for pharmacuticals(sp?) than an educated opinion. Like that commercial, where the guy says somthing along the lines of "if it weren't for those drug companies, my daughter might have died from cancer". I mean especially if people have been spending money, and are in debt because of their illness and they need money.....which can be provided by companies who want to a person to make their drugs sound better than marijuana. I know the drug companies definately don't want marijuana legalized.

Just my theory. 8?l

Default Hmmmmm...

It is possible.
The PharmaGiants have their own agenda, and I seriously doubt that either the public, nor the politicians are completely aware of it.
I doubt that marijuana per se is of true interest to them however.
Tather the mindset associated with marijuana medicine.
If you start smoking herb, hell, you might start buying St. Johns wort, Ginseng, willow bark*Aspirin* or kava-kava.
This is their fear.
Unfounded however.
In Europe school medicine and herbal medicine are very close, neither suffers from a lack of funds, some doctors use both in conjoined treatments.
And it works.
But they are not even going to entertain the idea, of someone else getting even one dollar.
We have seen that with aids medications.
