Default "new" study pot & lung cancer?

it seems I've been hearing variations on this theme since I first took a toke way back in 1979 in the 9th grade. Do U think there is any validity to this claim:

definately not. I actually just read an excellent article in high times explaining that. theres many different areas to compare ciggs and marijuana and what they do is take one statistic of marijuana being worse, say for example the amount of smoke in the lungs, and use that to say across the board that marijuana is that many times worse.

Agreed phreakod98

I can even feel it by experience. I can't inhale cigarettes, for some reason when i try to inhale I immediately cough uncontrollably. Marijuana always goes in the old lungs smooth for me, though.

Plus, it's FOX news. Sometimes when I watch that channel I wonder if they're just trying to distract me from the real issues going on.

In potential threat I could see why if they were comparing purely amount of smoke produced and amount smoked at one relative to size. I doubt that MJ smoke is anywhere near as harmful side-effects wise as cigarette smoke. I mean they smoking one bowl of hookah by yourself is like smoking a whole pack of cigarettes by yourself. Either way, I'd rather smoke the green.

my wife shows the same reactions, and it seems to be an allergic reaction to some part of the cigarette smoke. but tokes like a champ. hope you aren't allergic but it would seem that you are.

ps. if i remember correctly the U.S. govt. showed a national anti-mj add in the mid 90's stating that a joint was as bad as 4 ciggs. little assed up to be changing your story in the face of your "adversaries"

There is no evidence that smoking marijuana smoke causes lung cancer. In fact, there is evidence that marijuana smoke has tumor reducing and cancer preventative properties.

i think it depends on the bud you smoke. if you smoke bud that was grown with a lot of fertilizer and such those chemicals could make you get cancer. smoking organic bud with no chemicals or anything would reduce that risk a lot.

In the near future we may see an 'epidemic' of lung cancers connected with this new carcinogen.
Calling marijuana a "new" threat to health is absurd. If cancer was actually associated with smoking cannabis, wouldn't this spike in cancer rates have already occured in the thousands of years of it's use?
