| Just curious what some of you do when you go to the doc and they ask you about current medication you're taking. Where do you draw lines? |

| If I were a medical user and I went to the doctor, I would most certainly let the doctor know that I smoked marijuana and for what condition. If a doctor is going to run tests or prescribe another medication, there is always the possibility of a problem with marijuana or THC. My life & health isn't anything that I'd want to risk in that way. Now, if your concern is getting busted, there is such a thing as doctor/patient confidentiality. A doctor is bound by law to keep your medical records private.

I would tell my Doctor, but only if I felt there was a chance (however remote) that there could be a medicine 'contraindication'. I would also tell him (her, it, undecided) as long as I felt we had a good rapor...

| My reputaion as a smoker is fairly well known around this area, ( That's probably not a good thing), but I have had doctors ask me if I smoked herb, and my standard answer is ,"Yes, on occasion I have. It's a great pain reliever for me." Most doctors are sympathetic to a chronic pain patient, and once diagnosed as such, are a lot more lenient about using herb if it provides relief.......... ![]() I don't really think there is any standard answer to that question anymore. Ten years ago I would have said lie, but I've grown so tired about being in the closet about herb that I really don't care who doesn't like it anymore. If the doctor that's treating me is that narrow minded, I don't want to use him anyway. I have seen a few doctors that would not treat me correctly because of that, so I dumped them for incompetence and found another. It's been my experience that it's hard to find a good doctor, so don't get discouraged if you run across a lousy one. Their just people like you and me. They aren't god...... Some Where In Ded Land.............. ![]()

| I don't live in a medical marijuana state, but I'm a medical user. I found out on my own that marijuana works much better, is much cheaper, and has fewer side-effects than one of my prescriptions for a sleep disorder. I told my doctor about it. She was skeptical at first, but she couldn't argue with the improvement in the quality of my life. I occasionally have to go back to my old med for a week to knock my marijuana tolerance down and it's not enjoyable. The old med helps me sleep OK, but I feel "drugged" until the afternoon of the next day. If I were in the emergency room, I probably wouldn't mention it because I can't think of any possible connection between my medical marijuana and a medical emergency.

| I have been a medical user for years and connected to the medical community. I think it depends on what you do for a living as well. There are laws for patient privacy but the reality is there are human beings working in healthcare, and humans can be flawed and break those laws. I will tell the physicians that I know very well and have learned to trust, but not just any ER Doc, just because of my ties. |

| yep, i always tell my doctors (there have been lots lately :S ) since they are sworn to secrecy. one time i did get cocky and made the mistake of listing "cannabis" as a medicine on an official form in a dr.'s office, even though i'm not in a MMJ state. luckily my new doc was cool and she asked if i wanted it whited out before she sent it to my insurance company. *whew*. so, off the record: yes. on the record: hell no. |
