Cruise Fumes Over Marijuana Association

Tom Cruise's attorneys are looking to take legal action over a new strain of medical marijuana that has been put on the market under the star's name.
The "Tom Cruise Purple" brand, which features a picture of the actor laughing on the vials, is currently being sold in licensed marijuana clubs in Northern California.
The strain is said to be particularly strong and users can experience hallucinations.
But the association has infuriated the anti-drug star, whose Scientology religion opposes any kind of use of psychotropic drugs.
Cruise's lawyers are now seeking to sue the manufacturers, reports the New York Daily News.

Medical Marijuana is legal in California.

Tom Cruise has very deep pockets and obviously takes his religion extremely seriously.
Filing suit against the "manufacturers" - in this case - any Medical Marijuana Club who is selling it,
(along with anyone else they choose to label in their suit) is his prerogative.

Should he really get a burr up his butt that his (good?) name is being abused then, while we can joke about it all we want*, that kind of adverse publicity would more than likely be more detrimental to our cause, than not.

I call it bad judgment on whoever thought the name, "Tom Cruise Purple", was a cute idea...

As this is a standard Church of Scientology tactic, I doubt that it is Cruise's money that backs it. The church maintains battalions of lawyers on retainer. If someone does anything of which the church doesn't approve, they bury him in lawsuits to the point where he goes bankrupt trying to defend himself.

The Church of Scientology denies the utility of drugs, both licit and illicit. Doctrine says that using drugs keeps you from developing your mind.
