Hey, I love the weed but I am smokin too much and don't know how to get back to a smaller habit. Now I am getting high every chance I get and it's costing too much money. Wish I was one of those people who take one hit and they are happy, I just keep going and going. Anybody have the secret on cutting back? My only way is not to buy it, but I would rather always own some, but use it less.

One thing that seems to be saving on my sonsumption is the vaporizer. I use an Eterra, which is a one hitter. I usually would refrain from the one hitter 'cause it is slow. Eterra is plugged in always ready to go, so your not likely to pass it up waiting for another unit to heat up. Get out more, up your exercise level and time. Treat it like it was legal, which will end driving and smoking, and end job smoking. Get a job that will not allow you to smoke during that time. These are good ways to slow down some. For some not so good ideas, spend time with police, drink booze more, which does not work for everyone and causes a much worst problem. Try then to stay away from hard drugs. You have a small problem using cannabis as a less addictive substance that most others. So a really addictive substance would be a greater risk.

thanks GCW, all good helpful ideas I agree that this is the best drug to be using and I will Never try any other drugs and I hate booze. I just would like to be using it more like I was before, a hit in the evening. I like it too much. I often wonder how it would be if it was legal - would I use less? There would for sure be less toking up before things - prophylactic smoking I call it.

If it were legal, would you smoke less? I have seen examples where that would apply. Since it is illegal, I can smoke it at work more readily, since it usually is not more illegal. If it were legal, I would be in favor of seeing it used after work. I am not alone on this issue, am I? I don't think that everyone is going to suddenly smoke less, just some folks in some cercumstances.

Sorry GCW but I don't get what you are saying - "since it is illegal I can smoke it at work more readily" - I am not understanding this or most of your reply. Sorry if I am being dense. It is an interesting question though. Like when I quit dieting and made all foods "legal" I started eating less since I was not obcessed with what was illegal.

With cannabis illegal and so many people smoking it, when we do it we don't care where or when we do it, just so we don't get caught. Let's say I know that people that work for me smoke it. I know it is not a big deal and when they smoke it and I smell it, I kinda think so what it is illegal and they smoke it and since I don't think it's that bad for what their doing I ignore it. If it were legal, it would become a rule to not smoke on the job and a rule that you could expect people to keep. I do not expect people I work with to respect the rule I disrespect. Since you can not expect people to abstain, perhaps we put up with more abuse of the rules to help prove our commitment and dedication to support our point of view. I don't feel any better about this paraphrase, but I know how I feel about it, just can not put the best words to it.

I get what you're saying. If it were legal we could put some real boundaries on it. Being illegal it's a mess and no one is supposed to talk about it (that's what this website is good for). Legalizing it would help makes sense out of it. I think anytime our freedoms are taken away, things get weird and confusing. Just curious, why would you want people to abstain from smoking at work? Is there a performance problem or something else.

Once it is legal, there will be some occupations that would have a higher degree of risk when performed while high on the cannabis buzz. Perhaps nuke type occutations, firecracker factories, sterile environments, etc. What we know today may not count toward what will and will not be tolerated. Once legal we'll have more unbiased knowledge? Flipping burgerzzzzzzzzzz will not be as questionalble as flipping F-14z, while buzzzzzzzzed.

| Wow! Lot's of good posts! Let me share my experience with all of this "legal" talk. I have smoked for a good part of my life, (I'm 41) just to get high. I have chronic Lyme disease and can now smoke "legally" (in CA). There is a big difference (IMO) between smoking to get a buzz and using it for medical purposes. Now, the smoking REALLY helps me to function normally. My eyes do not get red, the nausea is quelled, I seem to have enough energy to function, and I don't get the "munchies"! Sometimes I can not eat unless I smoke first to soothe my stomach. My experience leads me to believe that when your body "needs" THC and utilizes it (like a drug) for a purpose...you don't get "high" per se! It is used as nature intended it. When I smoke now...I feel normal. I do fully understand the psychological aspect of "needing to cut down & maybe you should look into that area. Ya know? The more ya smoke...the more ya need! Thanks for listening! LK | |

I find what you are saying very interesting. I am 39, been smoking for 15 years and have found the experience to change a great deal. Now I, like you, don't get the munchies, and I feel quite normal when I smoke. I do get high, but it blends in with my life and to tell you the truth, I am not sure why I smoke, I just like it. I wonder if there is a range of reasons why various bodies can use the drug for more than getting high, besides the identified medical uses. I am also curious how a person like you uses it, being that it's legal. Do you use it in public or do you still hide? I am going to post this question to all legal users.
