Slow Burner

So basically it all started towards the beginning of February. I started to have a sore throat and stuffy sinus but thinking that it will simply pass in a few days, I just kept smoking. However, the sore throat did not go away. On Feb. 26 I went to the doctor who said I had a sinus infection and prescribed me an antibiotic course of Augmentin. The Augmentin had no effect on my sinus infection and I developed a chest pain so bad that I had to stop halfway through the prescription. Other symptoms that developed were fever, headache, heavy sweating, and ear pain. Keep in mind that I am normally a very healthy person. I'm in shape (I work out several times a week), don't smoke cigs, and drink only on weekends. I rarely ever get sick and if I do, it usually goes away within a week. Up until this year , I've probably went sick to the doctor 3 times (as far as I can remember).

So, I went back to the doctor on March 10 who then diagnosed me with walking pneumonia. This diagnosis seemed right to me since I was never bed-ridden but I knew I had the symptoms of pneumonia. He prescribed me a 5-day course of Zithromax and Nasonex for my "sinus infection." I stopped smoking completely and instead, used my volcano.

As I went through the days on the antibiotic, I felt better a little by little. But by the end of the 5-day treatment, the chest pain still had not gone away. I thought that since I went through the entire treatment, my lungs were cured and that it was just a matter of days before the pain went away completely. Very wrong. After several days, the chest pain was getting worse again so I went back to my doctor who prescribed me another 5-day course of Zithromax.

By this time, it has been about a month and a half since I first started feeling sick. Sick and tired of it, I heavily cut down on my weed usage (something I have never done before. In the 2007 year, I did not smoke for a total of 10 days). I vaped every 2-3 days and when I did vape, it was only a couple bags before going to sleep. I was pretty positive that I would finally get better after my second antibiotic course and through curbing my weed consumption.

At the end of that treatment...wow! I finally felt better! Feeling relieved, I started smoking again. Knowing that I still had to be careful, I only smoked a joint or two a day. However, after several days, my chest pain was back.

By this time I was really annoyed and pissed off. I've been doing everything I could to be healthy. I was getting a lot of sleep, not drinking at all, not going to the gym (doc told me I needed to rest), and drinking vitamins and popping airborne. Everytime I went to Robek's or some kind of smoothie place, I always got the one with the immunity booster and all that other healthy stuff. But, the chest pain was back again so I went back to the doctor on March 26. This time, he prescribed me a 10-day treament of Avelox. For those of you who know, Avelox is a fucking cannon of an antibiotic. Everyday, It put me on my ass for a half hour after I took a pill. Also, the normal treatment length with Avelox is 5 days. I got 10 days worth.

During the next 10 days, I vaped twice--something I have never thought was possible. And yet, by the end of those 10 days...you guessed it, the pain had not completely gone away. It is wrong to say that the antibiotics did nothing because with each time, I got a little better. It's just that the pain diminishes to the point that it doesn't bother me, but if I smoke (I gave in the other day and I've smoked a couple days since) or vape, the pain returns. Also, you may be wondering why I put sinus infection is quotes earlier. That is because I don't believe its really a sinus infection anymore. I never had a congested or runny nose the entire time I was sick but I would feel pressure on the sides of my upper nose (between my eyes) and my temple. Sometimes, the pressure makes its way down to my cheeks, where most people have sinus infections but that is sporadic--it would always return to my upper nose, temples, and eyelid. I've had this pressure since the beginning of February.

I'm very annoyed, pissed off, and most of all depressed. I'm out of hope and I don't know what to do anymore. My doctor wouldn't even prescribe me anymore antibiotics...not like I really want to take anymore. I sure as hell don't want to give up the herb. Someone out there...HELP!!

I really wish I could help you out bro but I dont know what to say other then why dont you check out a medical book that shows symptoms and see if any of it matches with what you have. Thats all I can think of because I havent ever experienced that before and im exactly the same, smoking all the time and working out 7 times a week. Regardless, goodluck, I hope you figure out whats wrong.

I sugest going back to the doctor and discussing the chest pain with him/her.
Be sure to include the part about smoking or vaping causing the chest pain. That will help your doctor pinpoint a diagnosis. If he/she finds nothing wrong, I'd get a second or third opinion.

I don't believe it's the weed causing the pain, honestly.
It would seem that it's the smoke or vapor entering your lungs that is causing it. You'd probably get the same symptoms if you smoke a cigarette or smoked some cloves.
You can always try cooking with some weed and consuming that way and see if the pain flares up. I don't think it will.
