| Hey guys, so I was curious (in your opinions) which you think would be healthier... An aluminum one-hitter pipe (its colored and looks like a cigarette). (they are about 7 bucks) or if I fill my own empty-papers (with filters) with herb. Here's the description from a site I found them on: Quote:
My buddy uses the aluminum cigarette one-hitter and he likes it... but my first thought is I wonder if its safe to be smoking from a painted aluminum pipe. Part of me thinks they safety-check it, but then again, it looks like they are no-named pipes, so who knows. Then I came across those empty-papers with filters that look just like cigarettes... its $8 for 100 of them, which would last me months I'd imagine since I rarely, rarely, rarely need to smoke away from my vaporizer. I'm very health-concious though... so, what do you think would be the healthier choice? Aluminum one-hitter or papers with filters? mod note: I posted this in medical marijuana because it has more to do with health and medical use of marijuana than the actual purchase of paraphernalia. | |

| no, it hasn't.. we've had a few threads on this very subject. if it was so dangerous, the thousands of companies still making aluminum pipes, baking pans, cookie sheets, and many other products that come into contact with high amounts of heat that we put into our bodies would not be doing so. or at least, would all be being sued right about now. http://www.marijuana.com/homemade-pa...mers-myth.html that being said, i personally don't like smoking from anything metal, it's just a personal preference. but then again, i rarely smoke from anything but glass if i have a choice. aluminum isn't particularly GOOD for you, but it's not going to just give you alzheimer's. i'd say papers win out in this case.

Researchers found higher-than-normal levels of aluminum in the Alzheimer's plaques in the brains of deceased patients. Since aluminum is one of the more common elements found in our environment, making the leap to "smoking from aluminum causes Alzheimer's" is just an ignorant idea that has risen to the level of an urban myth. We always have some aluminum in our systems. The disease concentrates it in those plaques. Saying that Alzheimer's is caused by aluminum makes about as much sense as saying that colds are caused by sneezing. Healthwise, I'd say it's a wash. I'd go with the one-hitter because I can't see a reason to waste THC by smoking weed through a filter.

| once i emptied the tobacco out of a cigarette and filled it with weed and kept the filter on there. it was impossible to hit it. i had to rip the filter off. i think marijuana smoke is too thick for filters. |
