The idea for 9 was the basic starting idea. Lucas fleshed out the story for the 6 movies, put made on the middle trilogy because, like I said, that was the story he most wanted told. The 3rd trilogy never even had a storyline, but was an idea since the very beginning. There's a Star Wars book from shortly after the first film was released which was rereleased well before Episode I was being made with a George Lucas introduction, and I quote, "It wasn't long after I began writing Star Wars that I realized the story was more than a single film could hold. As the saga of the Skywalkers and Jedi Knights unfolded, I began to see it as a tale that could take at least nine films to tell--three trilogies--and I realized, in making my way through the back story and after story, that I was really setting out to tell the middle story."

Trust me, like I said, I was a big Star Wars freak and I have read and seen countless interviews with George Lucas. I'm not into it anymore, I saw Episode I once and haven't seen any of the others in years, but those are the facts.

the reason they waited 20 years was becasue they didnt have the technology to do the movie the way they wanted to back in the 70's.

that is what i saw in an interview.

Exclamation take it easy on the poor guy

bubba, you got to see the guys point, at least a little bit. i mean, the fight scenes, at least, have more than a "hint" of the matrix in it...afterall, it was coordinated by the same guy(cant remember his name right now) but to an extent you are more than correct, cthd was a great movie, but by no means was the plot as complex as the matrix's.

hey you cant compare the matrix with crouching tiger just like that, those were two completely different kind os movies.. CTHD was just like one of those old hong kong movies just that it had a huge budget.. it was epic, of course the plot was trashy but it was culturally on a different level, the plot was perfect that way, the movie just spoke through images .. what I loved most about it were the fighting scenes of course.. they werent just simple fighting scenes, they were poetry, along with the rest of the flick..

the Matrix *tried* to have a good plot, thats the major difference. it tried and it failed, but as I said I found it at least entertaining..

Wink okay....

alright, so they werent the same...i dont think i said they were. i did however give the matrix credit at its attempt to open us up to a new theory, a new way to look at our existance. that is why i believe it was a good flick. is that not what this board is for, to open us up to new ideas and theories that may be truth?

Cool I have to stand up for the Matrix here...

I can't believe how much I am seeing this movie trashed

I loooved this movie. It made me think, it entertained me, and it made me just a little glad for unreality.

Think about it guys...in the Matrix, reality sucked. The people that didn't know what was going on were for the most part content to go with their lives. Some of those that were shown the "truth" wanted nothing more than to go back to the lies they had lived their whole lives.

I found the entire concept of reality and truth versus happiness and blissful ignorance interesting. Maybe there are some that didn't find it "deep" but it certainly gave me a lot to think about.

Do I think things are possibly how they were portrayed in the movie? Not really, but if you look at it in a different way it is fascinating.

Besides....why does everything taste like chicken?
