| Two WWII movies come to mind: "Slaughter House 5" by Kurt Vonnegut (sp?) and "Catch 22" by Joseph Heller. Vonnegut acknowledged that the movie was better than his book, and much of the movie is based on another of his, "Mother Night." Anyway, it's a surrealistic story about an American POW and the Dresden firestorm. Catch 22 doesn't come near the quality of the book, probably one of the greatest novels of all time. But it's still a pretty good movie. Also, here's one that's out now: "Enemy at the Gates," about the duel of a Russian and German sniper at Stalingrad (based on true story). I don't know what to say about it. I'm interested in the subject and go with the expectation that I might learn something. So I recommend it if you're in the right frame of mind (i.e., think of it as educational). It's not exactly riveting and the Hollywood "Wild West" showdown at the end was way off the mark. It couldn't have happened that way. | |

| The Dirty Dozen Von Ryan's Express Papillion (not really a war movie, but it's got Steve McQueen, so that makes it good)

| Jr. Member | The green berets is a terrible movie. Probobly one of the worst war movies ive ever seen, not to mention the least accurate. It was the first veitnam movie made so i guess it wouldnt be as good as apocalypse now or platoon but it was still really bad. |
