anyways, I can never watch good movies when I'm stoned , well I can but it's a waste cause I'm not gettin them, I stick to fun movies which are sometimes stupid when I'm baked, like Scary Movie, Matrix, Pulp Fiction and stuff..


however, heres my list of movies that are not crap when youre sober:

4. American Beauty (mainstream but still pretty good)
3. Fight Club (sometimes I cant watch this stoned cause its so dark and gloomy and frustrating)
2. Thin Red Line (Lemme tell you this: it made me cry. no, it's not sad in the ordinary way, but.. watch it.. youll know what I mean)

and the best movie of all times is..
1. Ghost Dog (watching it stoned may be cool, I never did it, this movie deserves being watched sober and with attention.)

american beauty is a great movie (and an awsome dead album btw)
it is one of those movies that alot of people won't understand, like my mom. I told her to see it because it was very good, but when she did, she's like "oh, so you like that movie cuz of the pot huh?" i tried to tell her otherwise, but she didn't listen because she didn't get the point of the movie.

Good call on American Beauty, I loved that movie. It's probably the best movie Hollywood will ever make. Kevin Spacey is brilliant. A lot of my friends missed the point on that one. I tried to explain it to them so many times. I guess if you realize that movies are art and not just entertainment, you'll get it.

yeah I'm feelin you, but it's just the same with the other movies I listed (they all have kind of the same message btw, just expressed in different ways).
A lotta people dont get them so they bash them.. a lotta people come up to me and tell me that Ghost Dog is a bad pointless movie cause theres no action in it and they were expecting a kung fu flick or something.. and I'm like "okay, so I know what kinda person I'm talking to.. moron.."
but what are you supposed to do about it.. you'll always have to cope wit peeps like that..

btw, Jim jarmush is a genius..

OH, MY GOD, "American Beauty" was the BEST...one of the most important films to come along in years as far as I'm concerned. Everything about it was perfect, from the characters to the plot to the way in which it was filmed. Did anyone notice how most every scene incorporated red roses, yet the backdrop was so bland and colorless? Its subtleties like these that really
endeared me to it, and the intertwining of the characters was just brilliant. A few people I know really didn't get it, and I've pretty much determined you have to be at least somewhat dysfunctional to truly understand it.
Some more of my favorites are "Boogie Nights","Magnolia","Traffic", and "Being John Malkovich"(for the wierdness factor). The best ones to get stoned to, though, are definitely "There's Something About Mary" and any Adam Sandler flick.

oh sh!t, I just realized I've never watched any Adam Sandler movie when I was baked.. at least I know what I'm gonna do today

btw, dont wanna repeat myself but if ya liked American Beauty please watch the Thin Red Line and Ghost Dog, they are a little harder to understand but if you do they can open up your mind completely!! and you'll see how similar they are to Am.Beauty from what they wanna tell you although they are entirely different kinds of films.
