What a joke THAT was. The only worthwhile winners, IMO, were Halle Berry and Ron Howard, "A Beautiful Mind" and "Shrek." Russell Crowe was ROBBED, plain and simple.

Lord of the Rings got robbed. Denzel did not deserve his award at all. Sure, he's a great actor, but all the others were better.

I wanted Sean Penn to win for I Am Sam...i thought he did really good acting in that movie. I never saw Denzil's movie...maybe he did a good job, i dunno.

Speaking from a film major's point of view, I believe that the Academy's awarding of the Best Actor Oscar to Denzel Washington was an important decision on their part. I haven't seen his movie, so I can't comment on his performance, but if there is any actor whose career has been filled with Academy Award winning performances without an Oscar, it would be Denzel. I saw a Beautiful Mind when it 1st came out, and I even told somebody after the movie that "if Russell Crowe doesn't win for Best Actor, somebody should be shot". I still believe it was the best performance of his career and the only thing that stopped him from winning was the Oscar he won last year for Gladiator.

I'm likely the one who would say "who cares?", but I have to say that when an actor/actress has the ability to capture human emotion and portray it in such a realistic manner....I offer praise. I don't "care" per say about awards, media, and such but I do praise those who are able to act, act well, and perhaps receive an award or two. I think that all things of talent and mastery deserve some type of praise whether commercial or not. If you have a talent you should be recognized whether it be acting or the ability to roll the best joint in town...everybody enjoys a compliment/award every once and awhile for doing what they do best.

Good point LittleC. I just don't like the idea of awards for something that should be art (read: subjective).

i did not see Denzel's movie either, but i am glad he finally won an Oscar for best actor. some of you say Russell Crow was robbed, but he won last year and there have been many times Denzel has either not been nominated at all, or has been nominated and not won.
