The Big Lebowski is definitely a great movie, but i think the Royal Tenebaums is much better, if you ever get the chance you should check it out.

Thumbs down We finally saw it last night...

...and although the cast was great, I thought it sucked!

Some of the scenes made it seem almost like a 'work in progress', with dialogue that seemed like even the actors didn't know where it was going!

The only funny scene I enjoyed was where John Turturro was polishing his bowling ball...that WAS funny!

The rest...a 'thumbs down' from the pOOner!

I have know a lot of people to dislike this movie upon their first viewing. Most of them come around if they watch it a few more times. I think it is one of the classics that gets better each time you watch it. It is art. an odd art, but art none the less.

Default Maybe I'll give it a second chance.

It happened to me with Albert Brooks' 'Mother'! I LOVE Albert Brooks' work and couldn't wait to see Mother! Finally did, and wasn't impressed at all! NOW though...it's one of those movies we watch a coupla times a week at least!

I've spent many nights with stoner friends watching/discussing this movie. Such a great movie. My favorite part is that when the music plays in the movie there is a source of it. When he listens to the the Man In Me for the first time the music comes from the bowling alley background, the second time its from his walkman. Whenever Creedence is playing it comes from his tape deck. This movie is great! 5/5!

I think this is one of those movies that you either get or don't get.

I wasn't crazy about it the first time I saw it, because from the way my cousin/his friends were hyping it, I was expecting a comedy more akin to Dumb & Dumber. This movie has much more dry, subtle humor, though. It's humor comes from the idea of this lazy stoner bum who is thrust into this huge, confusing, convoluted mess of a plot. In the end, all the misadventures "The Dude" encounters are silly and irrelevant. It's such a funny and absurd movie, I love it! I bought it for myself this past Christmas, and I was watching it tonight, as a matter of fact.

I'd give it a 4.8/5
