Can anyone recommend a pot-themed movie that isn't about a bunch of spaced-out slackers who do nothing but smoke pot? I've seen Half Baked, How High, Dazed & Confused, the Cheech & Chong movies, and lots of others of that kind, and they're fun to watch once in a while, but let's face it, they're pretty stupid and they usually portray people who smoke pot as clued-out bums. I'd really like to see a movie featuring people who smoke up that actually has an ouce of thought to it. Does such a thing exist?

(Sorry if i sound condescending - i don't mean to be...i like to watch fun, stupid movies too, but it just seems like all pot-related movies are like that.)

A serious pothead movie?

I don't know about that, man. People only know the stereotypical loser burn-out potheads. A serious pothead movie would most likely confuse people. I only watch comedies myself, so I wouldn't know if there is already one out there. Even if there was, unless it was educational, I wouldn't watch it. Who wants to get stoned then sit down to watch a serious movie? Besides you of course

Seen BLOW? Not sure if it will look like what you're looking for but it's a great movie to watch anyway. So much MJ!

see grass, its a good documentary on marijuana prohibition.

otherwise I believe you are SOOL cause nobody wants to watch a bunch of people get high and then go out and act like responsible citizens.

At one point in the movie 'the cell' J-lo smokes a joint. But it only happens once and is never mentioned again. I dont imagine a good "thoughful" film will come out with pot as the theme unless it is a documetary. I would like to see one. I wonder what people would say if a movie came out that showed marijuana smokers in a different light.

Pot smoker super heros, Pot smoking action hero, Pot smoking in a drama, Could be intersting.

i cant belive this thread is this big and nobody mentioned "Saving Grace" i havent seen it myself, but i read some critics and its sounds very cool. Its about a old lady that grows weed for medical porpouses its sorta like a drama flick

The Tao of Steve

A totally funny movie starring the dad from Grounded for life (funny ass show on FOX)...anyway, he's a fat stoner underacheiver, but a genius, and uses his own philosophy (the tao of steve) to get chicks. Highly recommended.

Also, there are a ton of great movies that aren't necessarily about pot, but portray it in an adult, (mostly) responsible light, like:

Annie Hall (Scene where she wants to smoke before sex)
Halloween (Jamie Lee Curtis and friend smoke a J in the car)
The Beach (The whole damn movie is about a weed island)
The Big Chill (A classic smoking scene after a friend's funeral)
GO (great drug culture flick)
American Beauty (Kevin Spacey is awesome in this movie)
Wonder Boys (Michael Douglas as a stoner college professor/writer)
Traffic (another great drug movie)

There are a few movies that don't portray the stoner as an absent-minded loser who wears tie dye (which I wear with pride) including American Beauty, Eyes Wide Shut, Requiem for a Dream, and others. Stereotypes are horrible things to include in any party of life. I try, probably to a fault, to dissolve any stereotypes I may have rolling around in my being. I suggest you all do the same.
