So it's a tried and true formulation
Makes me laugh every time. The villian always says he would have gotten away with it if it weren't for "you meddling kids!"
Although they don't really look like "kids" to me.
What's your beef with DBZ? That show's definately not formulated.

i just dont really dig any kind of manga, DBZ included.
And yes its formulated, but not by american cartoonists but by Japanese. I dont like the fights, i hate that dude with the moneky tail and i really hate the green dude with the towel on his head.

Dude, I just saw it with my daughter and there was a ****load of drug references.
For example, in one scene Shaggy says to Scooby "Let's do what we do best," then it cuts to another scene and the song "Pass the Dutchie" starts playing, and Shaggy and Scooby are on the beach in the Mystery Machine, and smoke's coming out of the van, then it shows them cooking hamburgers, and steam is rising from the burgers. They weren't actually smoking, but that was was was intended.
And yes, Shaggy's girlfriend is named Mary Jane. He says "That's my favorite name in the WHOLE WORLD!!!"

I just got back from taking my daughter to see this movie, too.
I agree with you Mjane. It has a ton of pot references. That scene with Scoob and Shaggy in the van was hilarious. Yah, from the outside, it looked like a major hotbox was going on in that van. Could have been a scene from a Cheech and Chong movie. As the camera pans down into the scene in the van, before you see the food cooking, you hear Shaggy's voice say something about Man, this is what I called toasted .... and then into the screen pans the grill and the food--oh that kind of toasted.

But then the food those two eat in the van. All that experimental kind of crap you get into when all the chips have been devoured and you are feeding your munchies with all the weird stuff that's been sitting around since for ever (capers, chocolate sauce, escargot, cocktail weiners, unflavoured ritz crackers). Um, I mean the stuff they're eating would be familiar to any one who ever got high, got the munchies, and devoured the fridge.

The movie was hilarioius because of all those references. I had more fun at this than at Attack of the Clones. I'd actually like to see Scooby, again.

DoritiosMan, you crack me up.

LOL. I used to watch DBZ, and even now that I don't I certainly do not dislike it, I personally like to watch cheesy japanese animation explotions, that don't kill anybody. I find it halarious to listen to some of the bad dubbing and crappy animation, but sometimes its very boring. I think it has some major flaws, and some damn annoying characters, but Hate is far from my opinon of the show.

DBZ has no bad qualities to it whatsoever
I used to love that show and I still think thats funny. No bad qualities, you like to watch 2 characters fly around and fight eachother for 50 episodes and the huge balls of energy don't even scrach them? I mean, I would rather see that than some of those terrible episodes where they don't even get in a fight.

Ohk no respect for that, he was my favorite character, practicly the only one who would meditate to become stronger. I have no idea why i'm defending cartoons.

Personally I don't even consider it Anime. All the "Anime" on tv is worse than DBZ in my opinion, and (edit:unfortunatly) you have to pay to rent videos that are better "Anime" than DBZ. I understand what ya mean though. If they had left the drug subtext, I would go see the scooby movie, otherwise, they don't deserve my cash. Peace-

I just saw the movie, and am wondering exactly WHAT drug subtext they took out...
That was a stoner movie! And the dude that played shaggy... TOTALLY DEAD ON! I thought I was watching the cartoon!!!
And I said I would shoot myself if they put Scrappy Doo in the movie, but they did, and in a VERY appropriate manner (no spoilers yet, just see it )

They actually did leave in more than I initially thought they would, the amount of material removed, however, was still rather large. Albeit a lot of it wasn't marijuana related (Velma's questionable sexuality, for example). Perhaps they'll put it all back in the dvd, one can only hope.
