Budding Prospects is an awesome book. It totally sounds like some dude's actual life experiences. The only problem is that you need a dictionary at your side.

yeah it was opium, there were many books and poems and short stories written on opium(as in the writer was on opium when he wrote the story) around the time Alice in Wonderland was written.
