| I'm curious as to what everyone thinks are the best and worst movies based on his writing. I've read a couple of his books, the pet cemetary, Salems' Lot and two short storys once. Best: Pet Sematary- For those who havent seen it, go rent it right now. Salems' Lot Children of the Corn Misery- Suspense-filled. Silver Bullit the Shawshank Redemption - Great acting. Stand by Me Hearts in Atlantis - Excellent acting. The Stand- Various characters. The Green Mile - Great acting. Carrie - Still a classic. so-so:The Stand IT - Scaried me back then, scary and fun now. Tommyknockers Thinner Rose Red - How the house is another main character. Creepshow Cat's Eye Christine- It was mildly entertaining, nothing too great though. The Lawnmower Man Sometimes They Come Back The Running Man Worst: Firestarter Graveyard Shift- Boring and not scary. Dreamcatcher -The movie was good until the last hour. Maximum Overdrive - Only good thing is Marvel's Green Goblin's mask on main semi-truck. Cujo |

| i think most of the adaptations have pretty much sucked...they've all been low budget and most Stephen King stories have the potential of making great movies but barely anyone seems to make the effort...only been three good ones in my opinion: "The Green Mile" "The Langoliers" see it! its an older movie, 70s or 80s im guessing-very similar to the book "Shawshank Redemption"- AWESOME movie i'm still waiting for them to make a movie out of the best Stephen King story ever- "The Long Walk" from The Bachman Books-wouldn't mind seeing a movie version of "Rage" either (also from The Bachman Books)

| I'd say a little less than half of the adaptations are bad. I think the studios bank on King's name as their main selling point and they may rush production. Also, because King has been so prolific, I think movie studios see him as a great source for material, though not always translated to the screen very well. I'm sure we'll see King's work continue to be adapted for a long time to come. I know "Secret Window, Secret Garden" is coming out next year. |

| Kathy Bates' part is the most dramatic and she does enormously well in a difficult role. James Caan's is the sort of role one tends to call "solid", but he is in fact excellent, carrying throughout the film a mixture of hopelessness, courage, and fear. It is well-acted, of course, but also very well-directed with a great sense of character description as well as horror-style thrills. This film is my second favorite behind the Pet Sematary. |

| My cousin worked on the original Pet Sematary. I thought that movie was really good. Much better than the sequel, IMO. Just watched "The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer" which is the prequel to Rose Red. I also rented Rose Red from Blockbuster. I'm in a scary movie phase right now....not sure why.

| Pet cemetary was such a great horror movie, I loved the part when Gage cut Juds angle in half. |
