I hear ya. I just saw a superbowl pot commercial where a girl's dad is super strict and when the girl goes to a party, a kid offers her weed, and she says "no my dad will know." So she doesn't smoke and everyone is happy. Except me.

I don't know too many people who turn down free weed. These commercials are aimed at teenagers but are obviously not written by one.

Are these commercials funded by taxpayers? However they are paid for, it is a complete waste of money.

You know, they refused to play an anti-Bush ad during the superbowl? Said they didn't want any political commercials to air. The commercial was sponsored by MoveOn.org-- my school's film production team was a part of the competition for the commercial. And it doesn't even get aired!

WINNING BY A FREAKING FEILD GOAL IS CHEATING!!!
Damn you, Patriots.

It's all horse****. I have yet to see any government material on pot that addresses real issues, and makes a valid counterarguement against potential objections. The only reason these commercials are effective at all is because the whores at CBS, and other media, aren't willing to air a commercial that questions a president who's so pro-business. So of course stuff like this will be effective, because the other side of the arguement isn't allowed to be presented.

And to anyone who thinks what CBS and others do is ok because they aren't government owned, by refusing to air some political ads while airing others, CBS directly violated FCC regulations, which demand that it give complete coverage to any issue, meaning it has to tell both sides of the arguement.

I only saw one commercial, from the partnership for a drug free america, and it was about not being able to "rewind your life" and was geared towards teens.

I personally had no problem with it, because anything that focuses on communication between parent and child is a good thing, imho.

They wouldn't agree with my communication I am sure, but I am honest with my children.
Also, I believe this one was equally about pot and alcohol. At least they weren't focusing on just one aspect this time.

I guess I was expecting much worse.

Ya, I watched it on good ole DirecTV, and personally I didn't find it too over the top. I would have preferred a little more emphasis on the alcohol aspect of the commercial, from the looks of it that was the main cause of the chick's problems...

i too saw this commercial with the girl and they said "if your child is drinking alcohol and smoking pot stop them " and the thing is, if the parents stop them all its doing is alienating the parents. kids are gonna smoke dope, whether their parents freak their little piggie tails or not...

the best thing a parent can do is share stories or such and make it seem like not a big deal. if the kid thinks its a big deal, like the commercials portray, then that big deal will get them big popular. if the kid thinks its no big deal then it wont get them popular or anything. that leads to a healthy relationship with your tea, smoking only because YOU love smoking not because its cool to smoke rockets in public or summat.

yeah I've got digital cable but I didnt think you got the American ads unless you had HD or satelite. Anyways I watched it at a friends on his HD tv setup (sooooo nice). I completely forgot about the commercial because when it came on we were all making fun of it by adding our own commentary. Like when the mom goes: whats this? or something and holds the bag of pot we all added stuff like: mom thats your purse not mine. and I think you paid too much for this stuff. All I can remember is the if your kids are smoking pot or drinking, stop them. Did they even give any arguments as to why you should stop them?
