| i made this topic to celebrate the news that Romero has been quoted as saying he is very close to forging a deal with Fox to produce his movies Diamond Dead (horror musical with music by the dude who did rocky horror picture show) and, even more awesome, Dead Reckoning (the script he's been trying to get produced for years that would be the latest in his Dead series of Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead) anyway, i want to become a filmmaker, and Romero is one of the biggest reasons why. he is considered a "horror" director, but i'd say that's an unfair characterization. he uses mostly horror-based themes for his movies, but they're usually a whole lot more than that, with the actual mood focusing on character study (Martin, Monkey Shines, Bruiser), social commentary (the Dead trilogy, Season of the Witch, The Crazies), or something else that doesn't fit into what you expect when you go to see a "horror" film. |
