|  The Rum Diary I'm sure many of you have read the book, but do you guys know that this classic Hunter S. Thompson novel is being turned into a movie? With the same people from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Johnny Depp, Benecio Del Toro, Josh Harnett... I think it's supposed to come out this summer... does anyone have any further details or more specific details? Because I can't wait for this little bugger to get on the big screen... Love my Johnny, love my Hunter, love my Rum Diary!

| IMDb says it is in pre-production, so it probably won't be out for a while. It sounds too much like some company is trying to cash in on the brief increase in popularity of Hunter Thompson that resulted from his death. Not that I won't see it, being a fan of Hunter Thompson, I'm just worried that it may not live up to our expectations. |

| The movie was actually being planned before he died. If Depp and Del Toro are both in it, then it should be worth seeing.

| i just saw a report on mtv about charlie and the chocolate factory and they were talking about jonny depp and at the end they said that the next movie depp was gonna do was the rum diary. so maybe it's still on after all |
