| Saw this movie last Monday night with a friend from my building. Gotta tell you, it was an excellent flick. SOme of the lines were outrageous -- like when the white dude shows up at this black rappers house in the hood -- in a white shirt and black tie and the rapper answers the door "Damn ...You Mormons are brave..." I reccomend this one. ...oh lot's of pot smoking too And Issac Hayes.... love Issac Hayes (Shaft) | |

| i definitely want to see this movie. Its creating quite a buzz for being a smaller (aka lower budgeted) film. From everything I've heard, its supposedly an excellent movie.

Oh well...if you think so then it must be true! Of course you could actually go and see the movie and see why it won awards at Sundance.

Personally, I don't see a movie about someone trying to GET OUT of the thug life glmaorizes it. Just because someone may have a nasty past doesn't mean they can't change......from what I understand, this guy (the star of the movie) is trying to leave his life as a pimp behind to work on breaking into the music industry.......is he was glamorizing "da thug life", don't you think the focus would be somehwere besides the struggle to leave it behind? Why would someone be so eager to leave it behind if it was so glamourous?

| Rather than making a new thread, decided to just up this one after I just watched this movie...all I gotta say is, this movie had it all, you gotta see it if you haven't It's not anything like trying to glamorize being a thug, if anything it's the complete opposite like TM said... I know many people that seen it in theaters that don't even like rap, but said it was a really good movie, and I can see why now. That was my only disappointment really, was that I didn't get to watch it while it was in the theater. Also DJ Paul & Juicy J (of Three 6 Mafia) made a small appearance in it.
