Has anyone seen this movie. to avoid any confusion, I AM NOT referring to the semi-porn movie about people who get off sexually on car accidents. I'm referring to the movie that was just released on DVD starring Sandra Bullock and Ludacris, among others. My wife wanted to see it, so I rented it earlier, with low expectations. I hadn't heard much about it, but the box didn't make it seem all that great. However....WOW.....this was a powerful movie that held my attention every second. It had a very heavy message about steretypes and racism in America, without ever getting too "preachy". The basic story takes place over a 24 hour period, and shows how many different people's lives cross paths, and they effect a single action can have on the lives of others. I recommend the movie to everyone. I had very low expectations, but the movie completely blew my mind.

I was confused when I saw the commercials advertising the release of the DVD. I had never heard of it before. Was it in the theaters earlier this year? I don't understand how an actress like Sandra Bullock can be in a movie released to DVD without anyone hearing much about it.

Anyway, we get all the movie channels at my house - so I probably won't see it till HBO or one of the other channels picks it up. I generally try not to waste money on renting DVDs - only cause it seems like right after I rent them, they're playing on tv on a channel my parents have already paid for... just seems like a waste to me.

I haven't seen it yet, although I want to. It was in theaters a little while back but didn't get very much publicity at all. Lots of people don't seem to have heard of it. I've heard good things though and hoping to see it soon

I heard one of the reasons it wasn't too popular was because people thought it stereotyped groups too much.....which I find completely ironic. Anyone with half a brain can see that the movie is basically a statement AGAINST bias and stereotypes. Its too real, and I believe thats the reason many people found it difficult to watch. The movie itself isn't racist, but I guess I can see how those unintelligent enough to truely grasp its meaning would think that.

Okay, so I finally rented it and saw it tonight with my boyfriend. And it's officially one of my favorite movies now.

I'm not sure what I was expecting from it, but whatever it was I got what I wanted.

The only thing I can say is WOW. Holy crap I absolutely LOOOVE this movie. It definitely is ironic that people found it too racist or stereotypical, this is the exact thing the movie is teaching about. Dare I say satire?

But man......I have to buy a copy of this movie now. It just BLOWS YOU AWAY how everyone is so ironically connected and when you think about all the connections..I was like whoooah. I admit, I teared up a lot...

I also find it so...BAH I don't know what just awesome that like, you see things from everyone's perspective and understand their own perception. One minute I was hating a person and then the next I felt so much pity for them..

Recommend this movie to anyone and everyone. I entirely agree with you Trouble(ahhaha), GREAT movie.

LOL...yeah, the movie certainly smacks you along side the head with the raw emotions is portrays. Its the kind of movie that has no definable climax, as the entire thing has your attention at all times. It really makes you realize how one simple event can affect not only your life, but the lives of so many others, even complete strangers.

I'm glad you liked it Fyre....I don't think too many people who give the movie a chance will be disappointed. hell, I nominate it for "Film of the Year" myself.....it certainlly made more of a mental/emotional impact than anything else I've watched.....

Just saw this film a few days ago. "Wow" is the right response. That cast was really well put together. I agree, the irony was.....well wow, again. Not trying to spoil the film here but, if you think this will, skip this next sentence: That part midway through the film with Danny had me burst into tears. It really does put things into perspective in terms of the stereotypes/racism that exists in our society. Choosing Los Angeles as the location of the film was perfect, as i'm familiar with the area (I live in O.C) and I don't think it could have been filmed anywhere else more appropriate.

I don't believe I had it bad in terms of stereotypes/racism but, being an Indian American (parents were born in India) I had to deal with a lot of bull**** in junior high and high school. I would hope that people grow out of that once they mature but, it's sad to say that not a lot of people don't.

I'm with you, Trouble. However, I think the Academy tends to ignore great films. Just last year, they ignored the film I believed should have went home with at least best actress (Kate Winslet) and best film... that film was "Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind" -- but I digress.

I thought this was an excellant movie It had some interesting twists in the stories and was well told but I am so over the topic.
This is america its supposed to be the melting pot for all people but it seems each group of people spends an enormous amount of time promoting their country of origin or looking for any type of slight they can be outraged about.
I for one agree with the Rodney King comment "cant we all just get along?"
