| I love this damn show. Been getting into the spin-off, Atlantis, lately too. This is the general thread for this TV show and all its spin-offs. The thing I love is that it doesn't take place in some utopian future, or a bad one. It takes place here and now, with real-world things affecting the show. Also, it's the military in charge of it; as a military guy, that automatically speaks to me. I love the visuals, and the alien races they encounter. The tech seems real, and ultimately within our grasp someday. And it's plotted well, too; they have things from the first seasons coming up in seasons years down the road. They're also not afraid to make major changes, like kill people off or change the nature of the different races the team encounters. But I really love how the show isn't afraid to poke fun at itself or its own premise. O'Neill is the best at this; in the big episodes like the season finales and cliffhangers, you can see that he knows how ridiculous this all sounds, even as he's saying it. That kind of realism is something I really appreciate in sci-fi. Hell, TV in general. I should say that I'm only up to the late middle of the sixth season, so if you're going to talk about something that happens after that, please take it into account. Now, any other fans here?
