I'm sorry to seem judgemental but that is just wrong in so many ways.

The least we owe to the families affected by 9/11 is to try to understand their pain with as clear a head as possible. They couldn't escape and neither should we. Even if you did decide to go and see the movie the fact that you got ripped before just seems really disrespectful to me. Seeing the movie alone is disrespectful enough to everyone affected by 9/11 but getting ripped and expecting to have a good time while a story like that is on the screen is just plain wrong.

What makes being stoned throo a movie, even one like this disrespectful???

That's going to the degree that you should never watch a movie, such as Titanic, stoned because it's true events and you should not "escape" the moment . C'mon now. Yeah it's a sad moment in history, a sad moment for the United States but jesus christ, if the day comes that I have to feel bad for going to see a movie stoned just because "they couldn't escape and neither should we", someone shoot me

Nothing about being stoned at a movie is disrespectful but being entertained by the pain of others is.

I have nothing against seeing a movie based on a tragedy, even stoned. My problem is with this movie and only this movie because it's all lies. It's an attempt to brain wash the public into hating muslims for causing so much pain to "us." They are trying to coerce us into hating a common enemy in which case we forfeit our rights and freedoms to a parent figure (Satan W Bush). When we have been coerced properly we will give in to whatever the government demands (patriot act, unjustified war in Iraq) and the government will use our trust to fuck us and put more money in their pockets.

How many people went out and thought, "God damn iceburgs! They should all burn in hell!" after seeing Titanic? I bet it's FAR fewer than the people who came out of that movie thinking. "God damn Muslims! They should all burn in hell!"

Wow, than I am disrespectful to the max. I've been entertained by "The Silence of the Lambs", by "Titanic", by "Pearl Harbor", just to name a few.

Just saw "The Ron Clark Story" as well. Kids getting beat and oppressed. Entertaining movie though. To me "entertaining" doesn't mean "gosh I had fun watching it". It means it was a good vehicle.
"Schindler's List" is another example.

I guess I'm going to hell.

And not having seen it or planning to see it, you know this how?

As far as I can tell, it is a very narrow story told from the viewpoint of two Port Authority police officers.
Extensive interviews were conducted with Sgt. John McLoughlin (played by Nicolas Cage), Officer Will Jimeno (played by Michael Pena), their wives and the other people the movie focuses on.

"We had real policemen and firemen playing [some of] the roles and often writing their own dialogue," Sher said. They also had a team of police and fire consultants.

Huh. Yet reading up on it, I see a lot of folks saying that the writers/producers stayed away from the more sensationalistic and political aspects of the event.

They just tried to make a movie about these two cops and what they went through.

Oh well, to each their own.
