| whilst i will admit that many american shows are sidesplittingly funny, for example my wife and kids and that 70s show, i would recommend some britsh comedy for all of the people out there who seriously enjoy their humour, good ones to look out for are blackadder(season 4 esptially), my family, red dwarf,The mighty boosh(for those who like em off the wall),black books and faulty towers. on a side note as a comedy enthusiast i have to say that the americans seem to produce consistently better stand up comics, but britain still has some stand out, check out Bill Bailey,Dylan Moran and Ricky Gervais. Go ahead check em out they'll probably be available on you tube or a torrent site, let me know what you think. |

| two older british comedy shows I liked were One foot in the grave and Good neighbors (also called The Good Life). I downloaded them and rewatch them alot. I also like the ones you mentioned though I haven't seen the one called The mighty Boosh.

| I have all the Black Adders on tape, brilliant show.I didn't tape them, I ordered them from a catalog, I even bought Adder 3 without seeing it first because I couldn't find it on TV. I tried to show it to my friends, unfortunately many dont get the jokes . I think a lot of Americans have a hard time understanding the thicker British accents as well. I'm a bit of a history buff, so I really enjoyed comedy in a historical setting. Red Dwarf was great, I read the book first and was suprised that the comedy was virtually identical. For those that don't know, it's a sci-fi comedy with an intensly bizarre set of characters. Little Britain is currently on BBCAmerica, I like it a lot, but again, the accents are pretty thick. Even a fan of British comedy like myself has a hard time with it occasionally. Some other old ones I liked were 'French and Saunders', 'Alas, Smith and Jones', and 'The Young Ones'. I think they were all from the 80's. In our defence, we Americans usually dont get BBC:America unless we pay for premium cable service. It is not carried by a basic cable plan which most have. Occasionally PBS(public broadcasting) runs shows like Python and Benny Hill, but not a whole lot else. I'd say most of us just dont have access to a lot of these shows unless we rent them from a video store. I like all the comedians the OP posted about, I even got to see Gervais in Vegas once. My friend made the mistake of heckeling him, lol, you dont want to do that, trust me. I'd add Eddie Izzard to the list as well.

| I used to watch a lot of the UK shows when my cable company had BBC.. Funny as hell. The ones that are made in the US arn't as funny as the UK versions. Like "The Office" for example the UK version is much funnier than the US version IMO. Extras is the funniest thing going.
