| Has anyone seen this flick? It's one of my favorite films which is saying a lot, I highly recommend it.

| Trainspotting is incredible, easily one of my favorite films of all time. The characters really make the film, and I like how it portrays drugs in a gray area kind of way. Most films are black and white about smack - "If you do smack, your life will invariably be RUINED RUTHLESSLY" *cough*Requiemforadream*cough*. Don't get me wrong, I like Requiem, it's just a little cliched. Anyway, I'd recommend watching Trainspotting with subtitles on the first time, as the Scottish accents are extremely difficult to understand. The dialogue is witty, and it's easily one of the best comedies ever created. Kudos to Danny Boyle (director) and Irvine Welsh (writer).

I also believe that future historians will look at this epoch and recognize it as another instance of the 'madness of crowds.'" ~Dr. Lester Grinspoon |

| Yeah I would agree with you there, most films are black and white. The accents are pretty thick but you get the gist of it......kind of. |

| I think its a pretty good movie but not great. You're right on how it depicts each side of the drug use. The good, the bad, and everything in between. And it also shows how it IS possible to start a whole new life after dealing with shit like that. i picked up the accents pretty well, and most the phrases they used. The only thing I didn't like is when hes swimming through the toilet to get his enema or whatever. Not because it was gross, it just didn't go along with any of the rest of the movie at all, and it just annoyed me.

and I didn't care about him diggin throo the toilet to get it, but when he dives completely in, and all the water is clear and he's just swimming around, that bothered me. | |

It's been a LONG time since I've seen that movie but I remember I loved it. One scene that still disturbs me is seeing that dead baby. While I know it's just a movie...I know shit like that happens more than I know and want to think about. It was a scene...I'll never forget.

| Wasn't the toilet scene more or less a hallucination? That's what I assumed when I first saw it. Some people were confused about the next scene, where Mark is still wet, but it's just the director having fun fucking with the audience, imo. The movie is a comedy (with dramatic elements, but a comedy nonetheless). Although the rest of the film doesn't have the same type of absurd humor, I thought the toilet scene was a hilarious little blurring of reality/fantasity that, while technically could have been cut out, still fit in nicely. |

My favourite part of this film's where Begbie throws the glass over the landing of the pub - "Right, this wee lassie's been glassed and nay cunt's leaving 'til we find out whae did it." "Who the fuck are you?" (Begbie leans back as if to headbutt him) "Aaaaargh!" Priceless moment. Also, if you read the book, the narrative that follows Sic Boy's shooting of the dog and the dog's subsequent biting of its owner details Sic Boy running out of the bushes and beating the dog to death - later to receive a community award for his "services to society". Funny shit.
