Default Hot Fuzz

On the night of 4/20, very much stoned with 3 friends, I saw Hot Fuzz. It was awesome. It blew me away. I was skeptical, because the trailer made it look dumb, and because the theatre only had about 7 other people in it, but I gave the Shaun of the Dead guys the benefit of the doubt for accurate trailers. Damn shame that the crowd was so thin. I tell you, it's probably the best movie released this year. Most of the shit they package as trailers is further evidence that Hollywood is going even further down the tubes and ought to be dismantled and rebuilt from the ground up.

Hot Fuzz is a breath of a fresh air, and a great blend of comedy, gore, and British silliness. I highly recommend it, especially if you loved Shaun of the Dead. The only possible gripe I can give is that it was long - about two hours. I was stoned and hungry for munchies, though, so perhaps my impatience was subjective. They showed a trademark of self-referential humor, a wonderful craft of set-ups and many pay-offs, and a few nods to Shaun of the Dead to boot. I plan to own this movie as soon as it's released on DVD, pending personal funds.

Go see this movie. Even if I were sober, I still would have loved it and laughed the entire time.

I also believe that future historians will look at this epoch and recognize it as another instance of the 'madness of crowds.'"

I was gonna check this flick out but my closest theater usually only plays the most mainstream movies. It kinda blows because even though I know they just want to make more money they miss out on a lot of good films.

Are you sure the cannabis didn't make the film good? I remember watching Grandmas Boy sober and the experience was completely different.

Absolutely. I saw the trailer while blitzed out of my skull, and I cringed. The jokes were ass. I saw the trailer when I went to see 300, which I was also not overall impressed with despite the great high. With those things in mind, weed doesn't make bad or mediocre movies better, aside from the great inner feeling while seeing it. My movie viewing while stoned can generally be as objective as I decide it to be.

That said, despite low expectations, Hot Fuzz was fucking awesome. I'm positive that I'd give just as many belly laughs if I saw it while sober.

And, if this type of thing influences your opinion, it got 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, with ~92% (too lazy to recheck) with "the cream of the crop".

Super duper when I watched it yesterday. Was so fucking high I jumped out of my seat when that thing hit that guy. Not a spoiler 'cuz lots of things hit lots of guys in this one. When you see it you'll understand. Excellent! Gory and funny as hell. Way better than most American action comedies. I give Hot Fuzz... a Fuck Yeah!

Shawn of the Dead is probably my favorite movie, but I hav'nt seen Hot Fuzz yet. I loved the camera work in Shawn of the Dead I hope it's similar.
