Default The "I Love Battlestar Galactica" Thread

I did a search, it showed a review about the new show from a LONG time ago. I initially wrote a post in that thread, but it got deleted before I posted it.

I decided instead to create a new, ongoing thread for ALL THINGS BATTLESTAR related. The 4th season is due in another 6 months...so we all have to wait FOREVER to find out if the crew of Galactica finds Earth.

Here is a very short synopsis of the premise of the show...

Quote:
Battlestar Galactica continues on from the 2003 mini-series to chronicle the journey of the last surviving humans from the Twelve Colonies of Man after their nuclear annihilation by the Cylons. The survivors are led by President Laura Roslin and Commander (later Admiral) William Adama in a ragtag fleet of ships with the Battlestar Galactica, a powerful, but out of date, warship, at its head. Pursued by Cylons intent on wiping out the remnants of the human race, the survivors travel across the galaxy looking for the fabled and long-lost thirteenth colony: Earth.
I love this show. I never thought a TV series would hook me line and sinker more so than Star Trek. This show has it all! Awesome acting, awesome social commentary, awesome direction, awesome camera work, awesome special effects. It's no wonder TV Guide said it was the "Best show on television".

If you like LOST, if you like Sci-Fi (star wars/star trek) you'll LOVE the new BSG (thats what I affectionatly call it)

I'm sooo into this show. I have the first 1979 Marvel Battlestar Galactica #1 comic, slabbed (encapsulated) and graded by CGC (Certified Grading Company) at a 9.8 (mint/near mint). There are only 60 of these comic books floating around according to their records. Here is what the comic looks like:

This is unfortunatley a 9.4, mine is a 9.8

I also own all of the Hasbro "Titanium Series" die-cast toys of all the fighters and ships from the show...

I also own rank insignia pins as well as a black fleece jacket with the Battlestar Pegasus (not Galactica, you have to know your shizz to appreciate Pegasus) embroidered on it.

I'm also an avid collector/wannabe player for the BSG card game made by: http://www.wizkidsgames.com/battlestar/

To get this thread ROLLIN' here's a link to a montage of the opening to the 3rd season in video form:

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...oid=2014272554

Once you're done w/that awesomeness, check out how the 3rd season just ended--with a SICK rendition of "All Along the Watchtower" as the "secret music" that the sleeper Cylons could only hear...

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...oid=2029285127

This show rules!

SO SAY WE ALL!

The best show on TV, IMO. It works on multiple levels. Let's hope the upcoming season is not the last. There's a rumor to that effect.

I also LOVE Battlestar Galactica!

Chief is a Cylon??? WTF? Ty? I can't believe this shit. I was really shocked when I saw that. <---sorry, just had to say that. Did Kara really find Earth?

I really like Sharon and Thera. I just love the whole show.

I will say I was skeptical at first because I grew up watching the old Battlestar Galactica. Yes, the old show was very "cheesy," but it was all we had back then.

The new Battlestar Galactica is very "dark." For lack of a better adjective. Regardless, it is still a great show.

I am also into Trek, big time, but also a Stargate fan as well.

I love your titanium models! My husband would love to add them to our collection. Maybe on a table under our Klingon Bat'leth.

DUDE! Peep this solid sterling silver BSG ring I got for 50$ including shipping! Yay! Now my social experiment of wearing a wedding ring can happen, and I can look cool to other nerds!

And when I punch a toaster in the face it'll leave a BSG logo mark!

Here's a pic of the black fleece I wear...

And then I also went and ordered these rank insignia to pin onto the jacket:

Short real-life BSG story:

Quote:
After buying the BSG DVD sets and getting caught up to the TV series, I decided I wanted to sport some kind of BSG gear out and about. Im nerd-tastic inside

I bought a set of 2 collar ingisnia and BSG wings off ebay...not the Commander, Captian, or Admiral...no no no...to easily recognizable. I went for the Jr. Officer rank pips and wings.

Last night I decided to put them on the collar and chest of my NorthFace Denali jacket because I was going over to a friend's house to watch some BSG.

I stopped into a store on my way there for some "liquid refreshments"...I approached the counter and the guy behind it was in a snowboarding beanie, had a scruffy beard and looked like a "skateboarder/snowboarder" type.

He looked at me, gave me a funny look and said, "Is that...Battlestar Galactica?"

I probably blushed or somthing stupid, but I mumbled, "oh um..yeah haha"

To my surprise he started going off about how he has all 3 seasons so far on his computer, and how the last two episodes were "AWWWWHHH!!!"

I had to smile walking out of the store. This isn't the only time somthing like this has happened. Often times at bars or nightclubs I'll see a group of people and have my "nerd-dar" up and running. I'll off-handly ask, "Hey you watch BSG?" ... and every time a 30 minute conversation with complete strangers about the plot lines and charaters emerges.

Nope, never been to a Con...we don't get many up here in Alaska...I'd love to go to one though, just to argue plot points and character development! Oh man, I have the Klingon dictionary, I think as long as I own it i'll never get laid. My thinking was that me and a few close friends could actually learn Klingon and use it as a "secret language" similar to how the Navajo language was used in WW2 to confuse the Germans. Ala the movie "Windtalkers"...

Qapla!

I don't have a Klingon dictionary, but I do own the Star Trek encyclopedia, tech manual, TNG episode guide, and various other books. The only Klingon things we have are a tiny model bird of prey, and the bat'leth. That sucker is heavy, but I know a few good moves with it. It can be lethal, so you have to be careful.

I wanted to go to the most recent con, but I couldn't. I used to have friends that helped with Vulkon.

I was seriously thinking about having a Mek'leth made by a local knife maker for self-defense purposes in case "end of the world" scenario happened. ...

Somthing made of real hardended steel for full contact use (not just a novelty)...

The Bat'leth is also a realistic weapon for self defense, i've been looking into getting one myself actually to hang as display, but also to practice with...
