| I thought it was a pretty sweet movie, though it takes a while to get going. It was pretty long also, so it was a good movie to smoke before watching.

| It's a pretty good flick. I watched it a couple days ago at a friend's party, and overall, it's entertaining. I felt dissatisfied with it while watching it, because of the typical suspension of disbelief you need for an action-ish movie like this one (i.e. hunter skillfully killing off an entire group of people who are after him while sustaining some injuries), but after all is said and done, it's a good popcorn flick and I enjoyed it. I have to give kudos to Gibson's direction - very epic.

I also believe that future historians will look at this epoch and recognize it as another instance of the 'madness of crowds.'" ~Dr. Lester Grinspoon |

| They were captured by Mayans. As far as what tribe they were.. it's hard to tell really. Any of those smaller tribes most likely were wiped out quite effectively by the larger groups back then, so there may not be much actual recorded proof of the names of the smaller ones. |

| I woulda thought Aztecs, just for the fact that I believe the people in the boats were Spanish, as in Cortez who later conquered them and took their gold. Anyway I thought it was a pretty cool show.

| I loved the movie. Very well made, and very origional (IMO) I watched it twice in fact, and my eyes were glued the whole time. Did you guys know that the actors were not actually actors, but natives to the local villages speaking their native tongue? Pretty cool - certainly made it genuine at least. |

| *SPOILER WARNING* GREAT movie. Not exactly historically accurate, Mayans would've known for damn sure an eclipse was coming, Also the Spanish coming on ships at the end, that didn't happen for hundreds of years later, according to history. Those cities were abandoned by then. But even so, the movie was definetely great to watch, one of the only ones I didn't mind reading subtitles. Think I watched it about 3 or 4 times now ![]()

"Many substantial speaking roles in the film were filled by Mayan people who had never acted before. For instance, the sick little girl who curses the hunting party as they and the captives pass right before entering the city, was played by a seven year old who lived in a dirt-floored hut in a village not unlike Jaguar Paw's." | |
