Look, I appreciate opinions. I like Michael Moore in general because he asks good questions, and really tries to get to the bottom of it. He can turn that into a movie production that people will actually pay to see.

But his actual opinions I usually find myself disagreeing with. Bowling for Columbine made him seem like he'd support more gun control, which is the exact OPPOSITE way to solve our so-called "gun problem."

From what I've seen about Sicko, he basically says that out semi-socialized version of healthcare is failing, and we're gonna need more socialism to fix it. My opinion is that turning over ALL of healthcare into the private sector and give Americans more freedom for their healthplan would solve most of the problems.

Michael Moore, I don't hate the guy, justh is opinions. He's someone I call a Freedom-Hating American. Just about all of his proposed solutions take away freedom from your average American or from private businesses in exchange for security.

i think you will still have the freedom of choice. your still gonna have the same doctors the same scientists and the same technology. if u dont like ur doctor u could change, if your therapist isnt really what you need you can opt for a different therapist
we are a country of freedom & choice and us as americans expect it to stay that way. moore never said anything about not having a choice dude.

Well Blazed, here's why I have a couple of problems with your opinion.

Really? Because of their parents? They said this or you grew up with all of them?

i was shocked at this kid,
Why? I think he has a very good question. So, as long as you can illegally get your ass into this country, you get a free pass? Sorry, you might be able to convince me to sign on to mandatory universal coverage...But I don't see why we should have to pay for services to illegal immigrants. If they want to be a part of this country and enjoy the benefits of this country, then immigrate legally.

moore made him look like a total ass
It takes one to know one, I guess.

and moore says in response something to the nature of "um how are u gonna deny healthcare to another human being?
Umm, pretty easy? Just say no?
Shouldn't we have to pay for the health care of everybody in Sierra Leone then? Darfur? Why not just pay for all of Mexico's health care so they don't have to make that long difficult journey across the Rio Grande?
Quote:
he makes docs on things HE WANTS to be addressed.
The argument I make and will continue to make is he doesn't make documentaries. He makes opinion pieces.
Quote:
im just shocked that a select few of u have such arbitrary convictions on the guys credibility.
My conviction is not arbitrary, thank you very much. I formed my opinion on this guys credibility (actually lack of credibility) from watching Bowling for Columbine and F911.
Would you like me to list the 57 "mistakes" (read lies) that were found in F911?

Again, I like this movie. Got no problem with this movie overall. But don't try to paint me with your bias while generalizing bias from anybody that doesn't like Moore or what he spews out. Look in the mirror before you start bitching about other's.

You will choose your doctor from a list of "government approved" people. There would be no private sector to turn to.

Look at our government schools (that's right: government; not public schools). The type of healthcare that MM supports would work a lot like our school system. I'm not that comfortable with that. The only thing that the g overnment has been able to do as well as the private sector is build roads....and thats the truth. i don't want the government in charge of my healthcare.

dude only now can that statement make sense on a a level. because of the current hmos and what not yes they only let u choose from "government approved" as u say. but if everyone in america is under socialized healthcare wouldnt every doctor be government approved?

to plains: yes i am completely neutral. i educate myself daily with politics, i watch fox news msnbc cspan, etc to get a good overall picture.

in response to your statement

"Really? Because of their parents? They said this or you grew up with all of them? "

yes really, because none of the 3 could defend their own beliefs. they were uneducated conservatives, even i couldve made a good case for a conservative viewpoint. they were just that, who knows if it was cuz they were nervous? but from what i saw these guys needed to get their Facts Straight. you didnt even see it. im pretty shocked someone of your reputation would try to counterargue all my statements that obviously offended you personally, y i dont know..it was not my intention.

and yes im neutral, how could you not be these days? im pro defense, pro choice, im for small government, im for taxing less, im for state control, i have no problem with gay marriage, im pro stem cell research..etc i mean i could go on and on here..

my point is its hard to just see politics in black and white. if u follow politics you can see many of the candidates on both sides of the isle are mixed on on the controversial issues. i dont call myself conservative nor liberal.

If you thought I was offended, you don't know me at all. Surprising, since I guess I have a "reputation".

You still have not made a case at all that their parents taught them to be "arrogant conservatives". I still maintain that is a generalization based on your bias (now I don't really know if the bias is against conservatives or parents).

Perhaps their teachers taught them to be "arrogant conservatives". Or their friends. Or TV. Or....

But hey, in the 5 years I've been doing this on the internet, I've been called a liberal, a republican, a tree hugging hippie, a nazi, a bitter old man, an ignorant child....

Edit: And how the hell do you know I didn't see it? Another assumption??? We are talking about the segment that started with censuring Bush?

lol funny u mention that because when i got to that part i paused and thought about it. but then i decided to write it as such because i felt confident in assuming because if you had watched it you prolly wouldve agreed

edit: YES im assuming u wouldve agreed with me, and it is not a biased opinion...as i have recently after a couple years following the whole politics thing found my true niche. ron paul helped me see that. he made me aware of what a a real republican is suppose to be like. its just the rest that have tainted the party

I enjoyed the movie. Now, it becomes evident from time to time that there is more to another country's health care than meets the eye in SiCKO, but his points are generally on point, and I agree in the matter that there has to be something done here in America. His views of the paradise that other country's hospitals and health care have are a bit drawn out, and their real problems are hid in the shadows, but even so there are some good ideas that we as Americans can take from foreign policy on health care. I'm not saying we need to adopt their ideas, but certainly make our own ideas from the ones that have shown to work better than ours.

Not a perfect film, but a good way to get the message out.
