So I was watching TV today and during one of the commercial breaks they had one of those "coming up later tonight on Fox" commercials on. One of the shows that caught my eye was Don't Forget the Lyrics!

I gave the show the benefit of the doubt and assumed it wouldn't be nearly as stupid as the title. Dead wrong.

Tonight's show featured an Asian guy who acted as though he was payed by the studio execs to be as over top as possible and hype the crowd.

My other beefs with the show:

1) Wayne Brady's forced, unfunny jokes which sounded rehearsed beforehand.

2) The commercial breaks were longer than the actual show segments.

3) Before each commercial break there is a brief synopsis of what's coming up in the show. Each of these synopses was assembled like a trailer for an action movie complete with incredibly fast camera cuts and an extremely animated announcer. It was like they tried to do everything in their power to have me on the edge of my seat while I awaited the next 8 minutes of commercials. Just unneeded.

4) If the contestant "locked in the lyrics" they would throw in about 3 days of "build the suspense" waiting time before the answer was displayed.

5) Pretentious. While plugging the next episode the announcer would use terms like "dramatic" and "the show everyone will be talking about." Please.

The only good thing I can think about is that the studio band sounds really good. It's just a shame that they have to be associated with such crap.
