Default Anti-weed commercials

So far I haven't seen ONE anti-weed commercial that I can agree with. Not because I am biased, but because every commercial I've seen basically has the same premise. A lot of them basically send out the same message- Weed makes people lazy; and that doesn't even pertain to everyone who does smoke weed!

Yes, you can sit around all day doing nothing but smoking weed, playing video games, eating cheese doodles, etc. but a lot of stoners (myself included), actually get up and do something while stoned. It makes things more interesting, I think. Ever go to a theme park while baked? It's AMAZING!

So my question is... Why are these commercials still being made and broad casted? Even if some or most people are lethargic while being stoned, who is that really hurting? Only one person- the one who chooses to be lazy. At least the anti-cigarette-smoking commercials (like TRUTH) base their commercials on actual facts. At least anti-drinking commercials base their commercials on FACTS. See a pattern? The anti-smoking weed commercials breaks that pattern when they base their commercials on STEREOTYPES and LIES.

Here are a couple of ridiculous ones I found:

"High for a night, slow for a month" - Right, because that's REALLY what smoking does to you... it makes you slow down for a whole month. Maybe the shit he got was laced with something else.... hahaha.

"I wish you didn't smoke weed." - Take some advice from your dog, why don't you. Funny story, I actually saw this commercial for the first time when I was high and it was HILARIOUS. Are these commercials made for stoners?

"Not again." - Better stop smoking weed, or your girlfriend will leave you for an alien.

"Pete's couch" - I like the beginning of this commercial, but the rest made me mad. Right, so every stoner sits on their couch until they're 86 years old... Sounds legit! The other day after smoking a bowl I cleaned my basement and MOVED a couch, though. That's a fact.

YouTube - Conversation
"Conversation" - They don't even let you know what the other guy is saying in this one. Stupid. Smoking weed will make you loose friends...? Well, to some extent this may be true, but just the fact that there isn't enough information in this commercial I think it's stupid.

Post some opinions/other videos if you'd like. There's a lot of gold on Youtube these days.

You know there is one thing I have always wondered about, where do these 'couchlock' stoners get the money to buy their pot. Money doesn't grow on trees. Maybe they are really terrorists. We should do our own commercial, about the insanity defense. Can't remember who was talking about it, but it was a video and I remember I got there from this forum. Seems when the newly formed DEA said MJ makes you insane, it was used by murderers. All they had to do was say they smoked. Plead insanity, case closed, the reffer did it. They had to back track quickly on that one. VV

This is the only anti-pot PSA that I thought had any value.

They didn't say that every stoner sits on his couch until he's 86, but there are quite a few stoners who waste their lives sitting around getting high all of the time. This is a valid warning that if you become over-involved with pot you can miss out on a lot of much more important things in life. From a lot of posts on this site, it looks like there is a good percentage of our members who think that marijuana is the most important thing.

The fact that you like to clean your basement when you're high doesn't invalidate that.

From their careers as burger-flippers at Mickey D's. From Mom's purse. From Dad's wallet. From selling weed!

The second commercial with the dog was hilarious.
I'm rather baked and I just cracked up, I didn't read the comment below it so I wasn't expecting it.

I always found it ironic how the anti-mj psa's were so entertaining while high...

The problem (for them) is, they're running out of bad things to say about marijuana. So many of the things they've said have turned out not to be true, and now they're pretty much having to resort to "Marijuana is bad because we say so." There's a few out there with inadvertantly good advice- like the couch one- and some that have a good message, but are presented poorly (I remember quite a few people on here getting angry about that one about two brothers kissing, which was really more about saying that you can do lots of things while stoned, they don't care, just don't drive). But anything that's demonizing pot these days is basically just myth-perpetuated, and most people know it. But we still need more public, official education about it, instead of programs like DARE that teach the myths.

How can you help? By donating to NORML. It not only helps out with lifting the taboo on mj, but it also gives you a fuzzy feeling inside!

The commercial with the dog always cracks me up. The only thing I can think is that I want what she's smoking. Must be some good bud if your dog is talking to you!

My dog finds weed for me! ::Good Boy! :: He alerts on people who are holding. I love the look on people's faces when he points them out to me. Teaching a dog to find weed is easy. It's a great way to get high when you've run dry. I want to get him a "Pot Patrol" badge to wear around his neck.

Dogs are always talking to me. They talk to everyone, but most people don't bother to listen.
