Alrighty folks, I am going to share with you today a band I haven't been a big fan of until a few days ago. I knew about them, and even had a few of their albums but I never gave them a good listen-to. If your a fan of the band The Mars Volta you will be pleasently suprised, even if you aren't I think you will enjoy them.

They are Portugal, The Man and they are from Wasilla, Alaska. They have released several albums, although I only have 2 of them. I highly recommend checking them out:

Well, what do you think? It's not everyday a band from Alaska makes it big, but these guys certainly have, not it's time for them to get their due acclaim! I have big hopes for this band, I only wish they would come and tour back at home in AK...

Dude I love this band...Their last 3 albums are all very different but really good

My favorite one is probably Waiter! You Vultures
It's Complicated being a Wizard is a 1-track 23 minute masterpiece
and their new album Church Mouth has kind of a classic rock vibe to it, I dig it

Good call on this spiral, spread the word, this band kicks ass

I have Church Mouth and Waiter! You Vultures. I enjoy them both, and yeah thye have a very different sound. I'm still in search of the other 2, if you know where to 'acquire' them drop me a PM.

very good band, props for bringing these guys to the forums attention. I heard their latest stuff a little while back and loved the classic kind of vibe glorious spoke about. Very chill tunes.

Edit: Another good alaskan band doing good things is 36 crazyfists. Heavier than these guys but they're from alaska so i figured I'd recommend them. I don't know what your musical tastes are but I enjoy a variety of stuff so let me know if it floats your boat. And hey, if not, they're stil from alaska

This band just released a new album, "Censored Colors" and it is amazing. Once again, this band continues to surprise me. It sounds completely different than their previous releases. It is quickly becoming my favorite album by them. It sounds like it was recorded in the 70s or something and is very atmospheric sounding. It is absolutely incredible modern music. They are in a league of their own...check this album out, you will not be disappointed!

Good find as usual spiral. I really like the second video you posted. I don't think they have the great guitar work like The Mars Volta though, but I could see the comparison a little.

BTW I am going to see TMV in a month, I will let you know how they are.

Sick, Please do. I wasn't as pleased with Bedlam as their other works but I'm just glad they are still making music. Nothing will be as good as De-Loused imo.

haha...yeah man if you want the cd PM me I'll send it to you through IM when I have time ...There is something about this album that is amazing. They keep progressing as a band.

Personally, I don't think portugal sounds like tmv that much, especially portugals newer stuff. That's just my opinion tho...I love tmv too by the way
