I'm surpried I've just heard of these guys, but I'm glad I did! What do you guys think abut The Black Keys? I'm in love with their music so far.. I would say this is as good as modern blues/rock gets.
Taken from wikipedia: "The Black Keys are a blues-rock music duo consisting of Dan Auerbach (vocals and guitar) and Patrick Carney (drums and production) from Akron, Ohio.
The band's name was inspired by an artist friend of the band in Akron with schizophrenia, who used the term "black keys" to describe people who weren't quite right. A double meaning lies in the fact that the black keys of a piano comprise a pentatonic minor scale when starting on E flat, which is often associated with blues and rock music.

Auerbach and Carney both dropped out of college to pursue their musical career together. Before the band began selling, they took odd jobs, often mowing lawns and landscaping around Akron. The original plan for the band was to bring in a bassist and another guitarist, but they never showed up. Auerbach and Carney decided to play without them, and they decided that the two of them was enough.

One of their trademarks is their preference for "medium fidelity" recording techniques such as using tape recorders and analog effects. The band does most of the recording, producing, and mixing themselves. The majority of the album Thickfreakness was recorded in 12 hours during one day. The band often experiments with odd recording and production techniques, such as leaving in background noises."

ahhh this is disappointing... I would have thought there would have been some fans of this band here. Each album, almost every single song is greeeeaattt!

Whoever the singer is is looking kinda 'bushly' but they are pretty good. I'd like to hear a recorded track off the album though because I don't download a lot of live tracks.

I fucking love the Black Keys. The new album "Attack and Release" is fantastic. I'm stuck on "Psychotic Girl" right now. Actually I'm rocking it now. I'm probably seeing them on the 30th of August with the Black Crowes. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pumped.

Dude, The Black Keys are one of the best pure rock bands out there today. I remember I saw the "Set You Free" video and I was like "WHAT IS this?". The guy sounded like some old, black delta bluesman. I downloaded some songs and that was it. Easily one of my favorite modern bands. Excellent musicians and really nice guys. Really bringing back that Hendrix/Cream/Yardbirds 60s heavy blues-thing. They totally kill every time I've seen them live. Every person I turn on to them immediately becomes fans. Unfortunately there is no place for them in todays music because...well, we won't go there. Anyone who is reading this needs to go and check out some of their music. I guarantee you WON'T be disappointed.

I went to youtube to hear some songs, and first heard Strange Times. I knew I heard this song before, then it clicked. Grand theft auto 4!

I really like em. Everything I've heard so far is good. I think I just might have to get one of their albums.

I saw them at Bumbershoot this year in Seattle. I had heard the name before, but that was the first time I'd listened to them. Pretty good stuff. Not really my style of music, but they put on a good show. The drummer has some serious talent.

I recommend starting with "Thickfreakness". It's a good overall intro to the band. If your really into Strange Times, go ahead and pick up the latest album "Attack and Release". It's a good one, but not their best...

I really, really love Attack & Release, but I've tried listening to some of their other stuff and didn't really care for it.

The production on A&R is fucking excellent.
