Default The Human Abstract (melodic/neoclassical metal)

I ran a search but nothing came up, surprisingly...

Any fans of this band here? Their new CD came out a few days ago and I picked it up, some really good stuff. I'd have to say it's still growing on me. The first half of the album is really heavy and the last half certainly has a very mellow feel.

I highly recommend both of their albums for any metal/rock fans, or someone just wanting something a little different to listen to. For a metal band they are pretty accessible.

A taste from the new album,

What do you think? There are so many influences in this band from acts I like I don't even know where to start. I just hope they don't lose their neoclassical edge and turn into just another pitiful hardcore metal California act.

You know sprial, I liked their old stuff alot but the new stuff that they previewed on myspace I hated. I don't like that procession song much at all. I can appreciate the talent in it for a while but then it just starts to get on my nerves and sound really cheesey. It's the same problem I have with liquid tension experiment and dragon force, the guitars just start to sound overproduced and goofy and a little too showoffish after a while. Those fast really high riffs are the focus of the new stuff whereas the crazy timing and the brutality was the focus of the last with the riffs being layed down on top. Plus, his voice took a big downturn on this CD. They lost their intensity. The last song you posted is okay but again, the guitars get on my nerves, too much constant finger tapping which just gets cheesey to me as I said.

The CD nocturne, is much better in my opinion. Crossing the rubicon and Vela are both fantastic songs. Still, I'm sure there will be people on here that will enjoy it so props for posting. They're just yet another band that has dissapointed me as they got more fans and changed their style.

I know what you mean about Dragon Force and Liquid Tension, both of those bands I'm not fond of because of the overproduction and 'meedly-meedly'.

I agree with you, the older CD is much better, but I'm just glad they got something new out. I kind of like the softer feel at times, but yes, there are moments I find lackluster. Still, I think this CD has time to grow on me. I think the song I like the most is This World is a Tomb.
