I only listen to the black album and prior with the exception of 4 leaf clover and The memory remains - sorry to say I gave up on them making kick ass music, the old shit is awsome though - as matter of a fact I am listening to Damage incorporated right now
Kirk used to slam out some insane solo's one of the very few who could replace Dave
listen to Kill'em all then think he was only 19 or sumthin, not just playing those solos but writing them

i havent heard it all yet, just one or two song, I used to be way into metallica when i first started playing guitar but not so much anymore, only the old stuff, there will never be another album like master of puppets

I was all about "FUCK METALLICA" after Load, Reload, St Anger, etc.....I swore I'd never buy another album from them againb, and I've held true to my word. That being said, this is far superior to any of the albums I named previously, and shows Metallica still has some potential. Nop, its not "...and Justice for All" "Kill 'em All" or "Ride the Lightning" It isn't even "the Black Album". However, it is Metallica back to sounding like Metallica, and not some Nu-metal reject band. Thats enough for me to give this album a thumbs up. For an old-scholl metallica fan, its nice to see this instead of another album in the vein of St Anger. Its not perfection, but considering I had absolutely NO hope for this album even being listrenable, I was pleasantly suprised I guess

Ive only heard a few of the new tracks, but so far I'm definitely not impressed. I saw an interview with Kirk, and he said that the new disk brought them back to their And Justice.... days. I see that point slightly in the new stuff but it still disappoints me
