| (Yes, I did a search. )So, I was looking through some old CD's I had and I found my copy of Green Day's Dookie. ![]() ![]() Does anyone remember when this band was good? I mean, they use to be awesome. Maybe it's just because Green Day was one of the first bands I ever remember getting into and the band has kind of been part of growing up and being a teen. I stopped listening to them after the disappointing release of Warning, and actually grew to almost despise them with their newest American Idiot ( calculated catering to anti-American idiots. I don't even want to go their...... )Kerplunk, Dookie, Insomniac and Nimrod were all stellar albums in my honest opinion and I bought them all as a kid, on cassette and tape! It's a shame this band has turned to crap.... ![]() Here, kind of an 'evolution' of the band, if you will... well, I guess some might argue 'de-evolution'... starting from humble beginnings, to 'the next big thing'. Look at how fucking young they look.... their music use to be so full of energy and 'fun'. Now it just seems pensive and more rock ballads than punk. Good Riddance was my Senior graduation song coincidentally. I almost started tearing up when it started playing..... I hadn't heard it in years and had no idea it was going to be the song (they didn't play it at rehearsal). A wave of nostalgia hit me in the face; listening to that song, angry, confused and seemingly lost in life ( like many teens ) and Alaska.... it's moments like that make you realize the connection music has with emotions Now I am listening to this song thinking of all the days passed by... I don't know... it's late and I can't sleep, so I decided to make a thread. So did you listen to Green Day back in the day? They use to be *huge*, now they are something of a has-been in my eyes. A shame really.... Whadd'ya think?

| i remember my brother had the album Dookie when I was younger. It was one of the first albums that I liked, despite not knowing what "whore" meant

| Old green day is best, but I really don't have a problem with their newer music either . People feel like they sold out....I still like the music either way, so whatever ![]()

| Yeah, their old stuff was great, their newer stuff isn't bad by any means. American Idiot was alright, I don't like that it doesn't really sound like their other albums though. Not that that's bad. It just sounds a little over produced and not as creative. Plus, why did they go all emo and stuff? I never understood that choice.

| Hell yeah! Dookie was awesome, I remember borrowing that album from my next door neighbor and I doubt if he ever got it back. One of my best friends in high school played the drums, so he and I would jam on a few Green Day songs whenever we got together to play (I play the guitar). I specifically remember us playing "When I Come Around" quite a few times. Good memories....

| I'm a fan of all Green Day, old and new. I didn't even really start listening to them until American Idiot anyway...

| My son used to be a great fan of Green Day. I could never stand them. Must have something to do with me being a teenager during the golden age of rock & roll. That's a heck of an act to follow...

| I used to be a huge Green Day fan. Huge. God they were awesome. If it wasn't for Green Day, I wouldn't be in to 90% of the music I listen to now. Dookie was actually the first CD I ever bought. When American Idiot came out I got all pissed and threw away all of their albums except Dookie and Kerplunk, though. I regret doing that every time I hear any of their old songs. But whatever, I can never forgive them for being such douches now. It's not really their new music that I hate, but their new image all together. I just can't fucking stand it. Especially after being in love with them in the 90's when they were so cool. I dunno, I just always felt betrayed or something. It's like they all woke up one day and said, "Hey, I really wish more 14 year old emotionally unstable high school girls would like us!" and went from there... RIP Green Day. BTW, I'm pretty sure Good Riddance is everyone's high school graduation song ![]()
