Tool has got to be one of the grateset bands, there sound, and there lyrics mean so, so much. i unfortunatly lost all 4 of my tool cds(aenima opiate undertow and the cd to the box set they have) BUT im going to go out and buy all 4 again soon. But wow tool is such an inspiration, like miller said i highly suggest you pick up any of their albums.

What makes Tool great is the fact that all of there albums are very mush different but they all still have that definitive Tool sound so they're whole body of work stands as a one coherent but varied whole.

There is your basic but original metal on Opiate but as their career progressed they got weirder and more artful (*not* arty--there's a big difference). I have enjoyed listening to Tool for about 7 years now and will undoubtedly continue to be surprised and amazed by their future work.

Perfect Circle, on the other hand, is a different story. I admit, there's a lot of talent and passable song writing but nothing that really catches my attention like Tool. Perfect circle doesn't take the musical risks that Tool does and because of that sounds like a boring, homogenized version of the real deal.

I'm curious, how do you guys interpret the song Eulogy on the Ænema album?

I think considering he speaks ill of L. Ron. Hubbard in Ænema it could possibly be about him. Of course it so obviously looks like hes talking about Jesus, which I barely doubt. The end where he says get off the fuc*ing cross makes me assume its Jesus but let me point out what aspects could be attributed to L. Ron Hubbard.

"He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say."

That very much applies to L Ron Hubbard.

"You told us how you weren't afraid to die.
Well then, so long."

That also applies.

"Not all martyrs see divinity.
But at least you tried."

This is questionable, did Jesus reach divinity, L Ron Hubbard certainly didn't.

"Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud."

Thats L Ron Hubbard all right.

"Ranting and pointing his finger
At everything but his heart."

Once again sounds like him, I don't think Jesus ranted as much.

"Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud and I
Swallowed his facade cuz I'm so
Eager to identify with
Someone above the ground"

Could easily be applied to either.

"Don't you step out of line.
Don't you ****in lie."

Sounds more L. Ron Hubbardish then Jesusish.

"Come down.
Get off your ****in cross.
We need the ****in space to nail the next fool martyr."

Now i'm reasonably sure it was Jesus.

I guess its all a matter of how you interpret it. Some people even say its about James Keenans dad. Peace, HN-

-----------------Eulogy Lyrics-----------------------
He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say.
We'll miss him.
We'll miss him.

He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say.
We'll miss him.
We're gonna miss him
We're gonna miss him

So long.
We wish you well.
You told us how you weren't afraid to die.
Well then, so long.
Don't cry.
Or feel too down.
Not all martyrs see divinity.
But at least you tried.

Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud.
We'll miss him.
We'll miss him.

Ranting and pointing his finger
At everything but his heart.
We'll miss him.
We'll miss him.
We're gonna miss him.
We're gonna miss him.

No way to recall
What it was that you had said to me,
Like I care at all.

But you were so loud.
You sure could yell.
You took a stand on every little thing
And so loud.

Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud and I
Swallowed his facade cuz I'm so
Eager to identify with
Someone above the ground,
Someone who seemed to feel the same,
Someone prepared to lead the way, with
Someone who would die for me.

Will you? Will you now?
Would you die for me?
Don't you ****in lie.

Don't you step out of line.
Don't you step out of line.
Don't you step out of line.
Don't you ****in lie.

You've claimed all this time that you would die for me.
Why then are you so surprised when you hear your own
eulogy?

He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say.
He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say.

Come down.
Get off your ****in cross.
We need the ****in space to nail the next fool martyr.

To ascend you must die.
You must be crucified
For our sins and our lies.
Goodbye!!!
