RIP JMorrison

Now that someone started one of my favorite bands (Pink Floyd, which is a good thread.) I'm starting my other favorite band thread. The Doors!

Anyone here like The Doors? I personally think Jim Morrison is a genious. Has one of the best attitudes and one of the greatest poets ever. Their music is unlike I have ever heard and lyrics are great.

I love the organs & keyboards that Ray Manzarek plays and just how everything fits in soo well.

My 3 favorite songs of theirs are:

Roadhouse Blues
Gloria
Soul Kitchen

I too love the doors, though i don't listen to them too much like i did in the good ole days (whatever those are). My fav songs at the time i belive were Soul Kitchen, Whisky Bar, and some other song i remember listening to alot

Hey the Doors got a good movie just like Pink Floyd to Oh RIP, did you ever check out the movie the wall yet? Just wondering.

And S.S. not yet, my parents have been a bit busy, so didn't go to the movie store yet. But this weekend I will definately get it.

hey...it finally worked and now i don't remember what it was i had to say! I LOVE the DOORS!!! i have everything they've done on CD and i still have the original albums that i bought when they came out. i even got Ray Manzarek to sign my Strange Days album! that was a trip. have you heard Stoned Immaculate? you probably have it. me, too. i have John Densmore's book Riders on the Storm and i did have No One Here Gets Out Alive but i've misplaced it. i went to the premier of Oliver Stone's movie the Doors the night it opened. my only regret is that i never saw them live. there are sooo many of their songs that i like. my fav album is Waiting for the Sun and i like People are Strange; Strange Days; the Crystal Ship; When the Music's Over; Riders on the Storm; 5 2 1; the Wasp; THE END!!! it is really encouraging to me that one of such tender years appreciates the poetic genius of Jim Morrison. some things really are timeless. peace p

the doors are really damn good. i have to say my favourite songs by them though are strange days - alabama song - unknown soldier and whiskey mystics and men. i only got one of there cd's and thats there greatest hits cds. i hardly ever by cd's any more now and i really dont know why.

The Ghost song is in my opinion the best most poetic song the doors ever made. Its straight up poetry and yet it sounds great.

Awake shake dreams from your hair my pretty child my sweet one, choose the day and choose the sign of your day and the days divinity, the first thing you see, a vast radiant moon on a cooled beach, couples laying naked laugh like children.

That is awesome words right there. One good thing about the doors is that no one has been able to copy them at all, i mean you dont hear of a band that makes it cause they sound like the doors, and thats great. Although some band covered a doors song not too long ago ( i forgot who it was some rock band) The radio stations were all about it but if you asked me it sucked. You just cant copy something that unique and expect to pull it off.
