Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks Purple Rain is an awesome album to get stoned to.

I've never actually listened to it while stoned but Purple Rain is a classic album. Plus, there's some controversy behind it. Tipper Gore bought that album for her daughter and, upon listening to it, she discovered that it had some lyrics alluding to female masturbation. She went off the handle and since her husband, Al, was a senator at the time, she was able to raise such a stink that she was able to get the issue of "obscene"song lyrics on the floor of congress. This whole fiasco led to the "parental advisory" slickers you see on albums to this day.

On any good television special on censorship, you'll see parts of the senate hearings. They feature Frank Zappa, Dee Schneider, and John Denver among others. Prince, on the other hand, was no where to be found.

What's Prince calling himself now, anyway? I heard he went back to just Prince.

If you ever do break out a Prince cd to listen to when yer smokin'.. Purple Rain, Parade, Sign O the Times, Around the World In A Day, Lovesexy.... good ones to listen to.

Also, the song that mentions female masturbation is "Darling Nikki".

I think anyone who grew up in the 80's has listened to Purple Rain stoned at one time or another. Prince was a big part of that generation. I still like popping in the old tape (yes, tape!) and reminiscing.

There's another one that's really good while stoned...Paisley Park? Paisley something, can't remember right now.
