| The bets music ever... Punk rock... How could you not love it?? Iggy Pop... A pure genus in anyones life time... it really makes me sick the music now days... all these Poser wiggers... rap is stupid.. dont get me wrong.. i am as open minded as the next stoner.. but this new stuff.... Players/haters??? what is that up with.. its just pathetic... all the rappers now days are just fallowing a serise of trends.. the old underground is good.. but i prefer Nico.. the old Hippy/Punk/Techno/i dont know how to word it... its just so magnificent... thoughs where the days when people actualy could sing.. they ment what they where saying... It wasnt all about how good they looked it tight skempy cloths... it was about originality... no one now days is original.... it almost all stoped with the death of Curt Cobain... no one except for Manson and NoFX.. I cant stand people that say they are punk but dont even sing it hard core... Blink... MXPX... these bands suck... well i like one guy from Blink.. The 2nd singer dude.. he is cool with me... but the Velvit Underground.. now there is a good band.. it was all about getting drugs back then.. scams to get money the fastest way posable... it was great... The Punk singers actualy went out there and had big orgys in clubs.. there are no more orgys in clubs.. everything is so soft now days.. even rap... Backstreetboys... there was a gay Punk band named the Wany County & the Backstreetboys... at least they had the balls to admit they where gay... Blondie... Her voice and looks.... she could kick the shi.t... out of Britany Spears... she looks way better too.. even to this day she looks 10 times better... It just pisses me off that people arent listening to music with their harts but with their penises and popularity trips... well i know im a little too opinionative... but tell me what you think.... P.S. God is gay | |

| word, my man... i personally haven't heard anything decent since nirvana broke up. I, too, long for the sweet music of the late 60's and early 70's. Beatles, Zappa, any drug rock... all masterful works of art which are ignored by people too busy listening to whatever synthesized garbage they insist on playing on MTV nowadays. Hey, remember when musicians used to use those thingies all the time? They used em to play music and stuff.. what were they called? Instruments? something like that... all you have to do now is push a few buttons and out comes a song. Not that some of these songs arent ok or dont have some merit, but its kind of sad when you listen to these pseudo-music type things after enriching yourself with some old school pleasures. Oh well, thats what cd's and napster are for. Long Live Good Music! P.S. If God doesn't like us dissing him, he's welcome to get his lazy a** down here and tell us so. | Hip hop, rap in any form its music. I used to bash rap and generalize that all rap sucked, then i found rap i like. Every type of music has something that everyone likes about it and something that everyone hates about it its just the way it is. It just so happens theres more rap that sucks then there is thats good. I like about 6 rap (bands, artists wahteva) and ya a major thing i have wrong with rap is that sheep respond too much to the stupid things commercial rappers do. I mean bling bling, saying somethings phat or tit when its cool. Where did this come from? The shephard that did it in his song or video and had the sheep bahhhhhing after him. Now i see people who dont even get into the lifestyle telling me somethings tit and that they are going to be blingin tomorrow in school when they wear there new silver necklace. I mean im from massachusetts so i say things like wow thats wicked cool but i realise how stupid i sound and i dont make myself think saying wicked is cool. ( we also say yeah a lot like rob zombie, pm5k,godsmack) But seriously about the whole telling people what not to do or what to do that is kinda bad, i mean i think all music has no new original artists besides techno, im not saying hey ditch punk and rap and rock and become a techno kid like me. In fact id hate it if you did, whatever makes you happy is what you should be into. Now about god. I have only this to say and ill make it my ps. PS. ABORT JESUS. Cleric![]()

| Jr. Member | Man, their is still originality out there. Heavy metal in the early 80's for chance? Heard of Master of Puppets? It's one of the best heavy metal albums out there. (hey, remember, metallica wasn't gay back then) Even now we have some bands out there. Such as Dope, and heck, what about techno? Just because you dont' like the sound of the music, doesn't mean it's not original. Completely, and Uterly, FullyBaked ![]() |

| So much in so little time. 70s-80s punk talented? LMAO. Don't get me wrong, I like a bit of punk, but they were all about having no talent .. that was almost the gimmick! 4 chords and Johnny Rotten nor Joey Ramone can sing worth a s**t, but that doesn't mean I don't like it. Opera, now there's talent for singing ... and I hate it! I'm not naming names on who I agree with or not in the area of tase, but no one has any business telling others that the music they like sux. I'd rather drill a hole in my brain with a rusty drill bit than listen to eminem, but that's my taste. Some of my most favorite bands have absolutely no talent displayed, and I won't glorify them just because I like the way it sounds. I like some of NIN, and some of it verges on rap (to me it means the same as hip-hop ... DJs scratch). Calling people wiggers cuz they like rap... hmmm, the first "rap" song I ever heard was "rapture" by Blondie, the 2nd was "Rock Me Amadeus" by Falco. They looked mighty white to me!?! I'm friends w/a a black girl that likes hard-core punk, should I call her a "bhite" or"bunk" or a "brasher" ... c'mon, people, no name calling. Music is cool, music is art, it's something to listen to that gives you enjoyment ... why should anyone bash another's taste? Hey, I like some classical, like Grieg (symphonies are very talented) but I'm not about to pawn it off on you or tell you that it should be art to you. BTW, some 80's bands are touring these days. The psychadelic Furs just played at HOB, saw Bauhaus not that long ago, and Gary (that "cars" guy) Numan, the Cult ... and you really want to know what's funny ... their fans range from over 30 to about 15. Man, as for music, it's all relative. I can agree with some of the tastes mentioned here and disagree with others. Dialted Pupils, I probably don't care much for your taste in music, but in this thread, you have 100% of my support. TC said it and I'll repeat the notion that no one should put down something that is merely a matter opinion. Tainted, you know, I like some of your posts in threads, but on the 2 I saw you start, it almost seems like you're looking to make enemies. You want an enemy??? Look around, we are all fighting for the same cause. We, as a group, have enough enemies so why don't we win this damn war before we start giving our fellow members all sorts of petty things to bicker about. If you go post this in a forum dedicated to fighting for whatever music you like, I wouldn't care. However, this is not the time nor place to nearly flame your fellow members... so why don't we focus on what we have in common, and not petulant differences? Tainted, I'm not trying to flame you, and hope that I haven't offended you, but what you said was so inflamotory over a manner of taste, I just had to speak out. Whatever tastes I may share with you are tastes, not talents. PS God was doing fine, until man reinvented him! | |

| Any of you rockers out there into the MC5? For those who don't know they palyed Detroit Michigan high energy rock and roll in the late 60's and and early 70's. They came out of the same scene that produced the Stooges (later known as Iggy and the Stooges, with Iggy being Iggy Pop) only they came before the Stooges (possibly influential punk band ever). In fact, their cover of Them's "I Can Only Give You Everything" is the *official* first punk rock record ever. On a historical note, they were the only band that played at 1968 democratic convention. Anyway, forgot all that. Buy their records. Crank 'em. This is rock 'n' roll we're talking about here. Kick out the jams, motherf*ckers! | |

| Senior Member ![]() | The MC5 were pretty cool, they're one of the many bands who I need to listen to more. I love Iggy Pop tho, the godfather of punk, bar none. My 2 cents on the whole music bashing thing, there is no greatest form of music, and there is no worst kind of music, music is just music. I don't really dig rap, and I don't like a lot of punk and there are other things I don't like because they don't really speak to me (I don't mean only with their words, I mean musically). Play a song by "Insert commercial MTV created rapper" and I probably won't move all that much. Pop in a copy of any Phish show and I'll be dancining my ass off. It's useless to try and debate whose music is better. If any of you have ever listened to the Miles Davis album "*****es Brew", you probably know some people who can't stand to listen to it. It's very chaotic sounding and rough on the ear. I hear it and think "this is heaven, this is the highest form of music known to man" Which one of is right? I'd really like it if everyone out there had the same tastes as I did, but it won't happen. On another note, I used to think that the glory days of music were in the '60s (Jimi, the dead, the who, the doors, dylan, etc., etc.), but there are still a helluva lot of good music nobody listens to because it doesn't get played on the radio, you have to go out and find it (I wish FM radio was underground like it was in the '60s). Here's some of my favorite newer bands, keep in mind, I'm a hippie, so a lot of these will be jambands, which I know everyone won't dig, but I'll put'em out there. Wilco Medeski, Martin, and Wood Old 97's The Apples in Stereo Galactic Phish String Cheese Incident Ekoostik Hookah Jiant Peach Melba Any band Derek Trucks is playing with Bela Fleck & the Flecktones The Steve Kimock Band Gov't Mule Uncle Sammy Project Logic (anything with DJ Logic) Charlie Hunter Ween Beck The Black Crowes Blues Traveler Colonel Les Claypool & his Fearless Flying Frog Brigade Oysterhead Jazz Mandolin Project Modest Mouse North Mississippi Allstars The Flaming Lips Support your local scene! There are unique, original bands playing in your area right now! The problem is, they're too unique and original to get played on the radio or MTV, to go and check'em out, maybe you'll dig'em and if you aren't you might be out $5 for the cover and however much you spend on drinks, which you probably would done anyway Sorry for the length of my post, I'm very passionate about music. Peace |
