if not for mtv, what celebs would not be celebs? like what band/bands or singers would not have made it.

im thinking alot would have never made it if not for mtv.
sorta liek video made the rock star instead of video killed the radio

I think that these pop bands are all, made just so record companys can make some big bucks. I mean 30 years ago, without MTV pink floyd was number one, becase they made real music, sure they did get some help from the midia. but not like Britney Spears

Any boy band
Money rappers like Eminem, x-bit, puff daddy
Any girl singer: Britney, Christina
Pseudo-punk bands: Blink 182 (altho i kinda like it)

but i still watch it 24/7

PS. i write a little true story that happend here where i live. like 5 years ago, there was a soap-opera that the theme song was a ricky martin song, he was a nobody there in the US of A, but here he was "well known", so he comes to my city for a show/concert wich it never happend because they sold like 500 tixs from 2500 that were available, now you see him every day on mtv, and now he is never coming back here (thank Gawd), just because of MTV, instead of baning videos they should ban some "artists".

Well this is my opinion on this matter,MTV always sucked,except during certain time periods.
Time periods when they had the first version of AMP on,they played good rap (like Tupac and Wu Tang,etc), cool shows like Aeon Flux and The Maxx(dont care what you think but i stil like The Maxx,even though The Head was just plain stupid)and some of there shows actually showed something pro-pot (it was an mtv show in which ppl did the news,and one of the segments was from a medical marijuana club in san fransisco and some dude smoking a joint in front of the camera,btw,this is still when i was a dare new world order drone)
Now MTV is complete rubbish. What happened to actual "music videos"? Everytime i flip through the channels and stumble apon MTV i see a Real World marathon and gay videos (i dont count pop music as music) And dont get me started in how MTV is a brainwashing node for the DEA and Corperations.

Don't get me wrong, I hate MTV as much as any music lover, but it is naive to think all the music of the '60s and '70s really all being that good. The Backstreet Boys and N'Sync are just operating under the same formula used by guys like David Cassidy, who was also scoring number one hits in the '70s along, with Floyd. MTV is just another thing forcing that pop crap down our throats, along with radio, and it does a better job. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about it, just listen to the stuff you know is good, try to turn as many of your friends on to it, and let other people do there thing. The ones who want to listen to good music will, the others will just continue to be clueless.

Absolutely Bailey. I have no idea what I'd be listening to if my friends hadn't turned me on to Harper, Sublime, Radiohead, etc. I dread that I would be just another pop slave. God that would suck. So a big "Thanks!" to all the friends out there with good musical taste.
