| Brad Nowell never saw Sublime hit mass-fame. He died two months before the self-titled cd was released, which was what Sublime gained it's notoriety for. He had been dabbling with heroin since the early 1990's.

| Great Pain=Great Art. I think that there is definately truth in that statement. A LOT of artistic people look at the world entirely different than most, seeking truth and meaning where there is often none to be found, or not being able to accept the way certain things in world are. This can lead to self torture and extremely powerful drugs offer both meaning and escape, leading to a dangerous combination. I remember reading something that Bradley’s brother had written similar to that, saying Bradley sought answers and escape through smack. It’s pretty clear if you look at the lyrics to “New Song” - “Glory please, my God, comin' from heaven above takes up all of my time.” It’s my theory that people with great and powerful lows need great and powerful highs to keep them going - even if it eventually leads to self-destruction. Bradley’s music is one of the most important and powerful things in my life, and it seems that it speaks to a lot of people as deeply as it speaks to me. It’s a true tragedy the way he died and we can only imagine where the world of music would be today if he were still with us. I read on skunk.com that there’s going to be a bio about Brad available at the Warped Tour. “It ain’t house music that makes me wanna dance” Senseless | |

| i think it was one of the grestest losts, but like someone said,he didn't get to see the real fame bause of the s/t album,as for music going in another direction if he wasn't dead,i don't know if it would've stopped the nation from being predominatley rap,but it was one of the worst losts in music history(along with hendrix) | |

| The book is out, I believe it's called Brad Nowell: Portrait of a Punk. One of my friends has it, but I haven't had a chance to pick it up yet, 'cause I'm broke. It's a cool book though, and worth getting. Go to http://www.sublimedirect.com , it should be there. peace. |

| Hey anti147, I'M sorry but what you are saying is not true. "they saw that no one cared for or listened to their music for what it was meant for and meant to be" Kust Cobain and Jim Morrison commited suicide because of high depressions. They wouldnt have killed their selfs because nobody did understand their music. I mean C'mon get real. Marley did of cancer, he did not kill him self or died of drugs as you said. but dont know about Hendrix. And I think Many people(me included) do understand some of their art and their lyrics! |
