I listen to everything, but I only purchase hardcore. I wouldn't consider myself close minded, but I guess no one would admit to it if they were.

I only buy hardcore because it's the only music that I can really relate to. I can listen to rap or country and say to myself that song sounds catchy, these guys do have talent, I'm entertained by this etc etc, but it doesn't really speak to me


Hardcore does speak to me. I can totally relate to it. The music is really personal. Most Rap songs (just using this as an example, I could have easily talked about Garth Brooks) talk about Diggin a ditch and puttin a *itc* in it, or driving around in Lex, sippin crystAl or some stuff I will never do. Same with most other types of music, they just talk about things that are alien to me. Not that I don't think it's really neat that RZA "hates F***in crackers" but I don't. I am a cracker.

So for personal enrichment, sure I will listen to anything. But hardcore is the only music that I can say that I love and empathize with (generally speaking of course there are exceptions). Does that make me close minded?
