Im sorry but how is someone being selfish by commiting suicide under any circumstances? Even if there is a situation under which someone would consider him to be selfish because he killed themself, I believe that Kurt's act of taking his own life would overweigh any thoughts of selfishness.

I think suicide is one of the most selfish acts someone can do, By committing suicide, you are looking for immediate relief from your problems with careless disregard for the feelings of the others who care about you. I feel that leaving a woman without a husband and a child without a father (albeit not a model one) just because one is having trouble dealing with personal issues is morally indefensable.

Ya, it might be a tad selfish, but I also don't think the suicidal person realizes that he IS being selfish. The fact is, he is mentally INEQUIPPED to know he is being selfish. The suicidal person is so consumed with his own depression that he is mentally unable to look past himself. I guess you could say he is SUBCONSCIOUSLY thinking only of himself, but I don't think these people should be condemned as much as reached out to.
On the same note, though, I think a lot of things can be considered selfish. For example, mourning and bereavement. I mean, think about it. When a person dies, what exactly are you mourning...the fact that that person can no longer enjoy life, or the fact that you are without that person? Depression, in a way, is selfishness as well. A lot of things are driven by selfishness, but I also don't think everyone should be condemned (ESPECIALLY someone who commits suicide) for their selfishness; on the contrary, people like Kurt should be reached out to.

A lot of depressed, especially suicidal, people don't think rationally. Just think, if you followed their train of thought you'd probably be dead too, right? Well, who knows, maybe he thought Courtney and his kid were better off without him. It's impossible to get into someone's head. Sure suicide is selfish, but that's from an outside view,
how can anyone who hasn't already killed themselves fully understand.

BTW, Didn't Kurt also have an extremely painful uncurable stomache disease? I remember hearing that somewhere.

i dont know much about cobain, i never got into nirvana much, i just like the popular songs, the only grunge band that i love is Pearl Jam.

man so many great talents gone to waste. Kurt was being selfish in a way when he killed himself, if he did, but ya have to think all those drugs that he was shooting up didnt help either. I believe that Courtney Love killed him, and even if he didnt die then, he prolly would be dead now becasue most likely he would have overdosed sooner or later, just like Hendrix, and Elvis.

Ah well you all need to check out Blind Melon and Shannon Hoon (shill shill shill) cause he was one of the greats too, and I say 27 but it might'a been 26, I'm pretty sure it was 27 though, at least I think I am, surer than for Jim, that's for sure, sure? sure.

Kurt Cobain was shot by a Shotgun, when they did an otopsy on his body, they found he was on effects of many drugs, that he couldn't even lift up a cup o' coffee, let alone a shotgun to shoot yourself...
