| Tool are a little hit and miss with me. I like some of their stuff, can't stand the others. Thought Undertow was one of the most overrated albums of all-time. Thought Aenima was okay. Lateralus, though, I love. It's very cool. Reminds me a lot of the mid-late 80s post punk I love so much. Every track is a keeper (with the exception of Ticks and Leeches, I hate that one). Great album. Love the final track. NIN I can take or leave. Pretty Hate Machine is on my top 100 greatest albums of all time, though. Great crossover sound. I still listen to it regularly. Broken was way too metal for me and Downward Spiral I thought was okay. Interesting low-fi experimentation on that one. The Fragile, I loved. It sounded a lot like Reznor had been listening to a lot more Coil and Throbbing Gristle and some Psychic TV lately. A lot of low-fi noise loops, low sampling rates. It was great. That album is two discs worth of some of the greatest noise experimentation ever. I love it. | |

| well I like the industrial sound of NIN, but they are way too over rated. There is one song I really like, I think its called "I wanna get so high". I think Trent Reznor thinks he is more of a genius the he really is, no offense. I like tool's sound. good use of drums in a mainstream genre of music that they are a part of. Guitar playing is original. I am not very familiar with the old stuff. I liked aenima. Some of it towards the end lost my interest, but for the most part I liked it. I like albums that you listen to and it feels like you are watching a movie or reading a story or something. I will give them mad credit for originality in a world where mainstream hardly explores but just screams, uses double bass in every song, and band members where masks to get your attention. Deftones are one of my favorites because they are original and don't assimilate to a particular type of music. I like to call them Emotional metal. white pony is very mellow, but I give them respect for experimenting with new sounds. I noticed that all their songs on White Pony are all stories. None are about Chino, except change and elite. He says that he tried his hardest to keep his ego away from the music and tried to write from an omniscient view. He says some songs are about a conversation people are having and he is observing. Deftones are perfect to listen to when your stoned too. I really recommend them, especially the album Around The Fur. I wonder if Maynard blazes the herb. He seems a little uptight for a weed smoker if he is one. Tool actually helped get a member from Rage Against the Machine into the band. I like that song with RATM lead singer Zack de la Rocha and Tool. It's called Bottom. Have you heard it? | |

| 10 miles high. yes metal is great too. Things fall apart is a real good cd. My friend let me borrow it. My friend and I made a music video for 10 miles high in our video production class before we graduated. Every group who made a video, came out normally, pretty good idea but rough cuts and poor editing, and most of the themes were way off. Our finished video came out and on the day of presentations, everyone praised our group for remarkable editing. It was unreal. It was like some professional edited the film perfectly, but it was only my friend and I. If you would see the video you would have thought trent reznor was behind this and I am not trying to boast. It is very spooky. There are parts in the video that are perfectly in sync with the song it scared my friend and I when we watched it. Like if you listen to the song, there is a mellow part in the beginning, then you start hearing the music and sharp drum like beats sweep to the foreground, and that is where the video starts to progress. I wish I could send you guys a copy but it would be hard cuz I have never sent anything other than a letter to anyone in the mail. I think the film is possessed and I am not even kidding. My teacher says he liked so much he wanted an extra copy to show his students next year. I really had fun shooting the video. Film is such a strange art. Sometimes things can come together perfectly when your in the editing room. I think we were a little worried because we had a lot of shots but there were so many different kinds we didn't know how we were going to integrate it all in. Anyway, if any of you guys take Film or video production in high school or college, I suggest going for a NIN song, because you have more flexibility and you can pretty much do your own abstract collage of shots. Other groups did rap videos which were kind of lame, and its because you can't really do much with a rap video, other than have a guy rapping in front of the camera with silver around his neck. I don't have undertow, i downloaded the song bottom off napster. so you guys recommend Lateralus. You guys make it sound so good, I just might pick it up today when I go to the music store near my house. Tell me this chromevixen, is it better than aenima? | |

| ever seen the Broken video? The entire, banned video? It's a collection of videos, one for each song on the album, interspersed with footage that is supposed to be a snuff film. It's probably the most realistic snuff flick I've ever seen (i collect horror movies). Intensely horrifying. Directed by one of the guys from the industrial group Coil (listen to them high sometime, it'll change your life). | |

| I love Tool, they've been my favorite group of musicians for a long time now. Opiate, their 1st album, was even good. Salival from the box set with the DVD was kick ass! I love the Tool videos, the Schism video is cool. bonghits4christ(i know you didn't ask me, but..): I think aenima was slightly better, but I can't judge between the 2 best albums. Bill hicks is one of my favorite people, even though he's been long dead , and they dedicated the Aenima cd to Bill hicks, in third eye. Bottom is one of my favorite songs out of all cd's. The best songs on unertow are intolerance, prison sex, and sober, but theyre all good. Some people mistake the meaning of some of their songs and think it's weird bullsh!t (like stinkfist from aenima) ... I don't think it matters whether or not maynard smokes herb, although I truly believe he would choose marijuana over the other choices, if there is such thing as a choice in that matter. NIN is cool too! they will always be the sh!t in my book! | |

| Bill Hicks is GREAT... www.sacredcow.com go listen to/watch his comedy.... best i've seen/heard ever "not only do i think pot should be legalized..is should be mandatory..." quote from saneman (I WANT THAT VIDEO!) i've heard so many people try and tell me that track 2 (eulogy) on aenima is about bill hicks...what a joke...that song is quite derogitory. it's about jesus. Tool is great. Undertow was the very first cd i ever owned. it's great. it's alot harder and dark. i like it. i think lateralis was hyped up wayyy to much and it overrated. i mean every other tool album i can listen to each and every song. with the new cd there are only 5 songs i can listen to. tracks 1, 3, 7, 9 and 11. ticks and leeches is tools' worst song ever. funny thing though...all 3 albums (opiate is an ep) the 9th track has been my absolute fav song. kinna strange. edit: maynard used to do drugs (what ones i don't know) but doesn't anymore |

| tool mother ****ing rocks about sober - adam jones (guitarist) said "the song and video are based on a guy we know who is at his artistic best when he's loaded. A lot of people give him **** for that .... You can do what you want, but you have to take responsibility for what happens. If you become addicted and a junkie, well, that's your fault. " (from Guitar World; 3/94). ive heard maynard speak about acid trips in interveiws about bottom - zach de la rocha is NOT in bottom. it is henry rollins. you may have picked up a napster facade that says its zach, but its not (the original bottom at least).and im glad to see someone mentioned opiate. tis my favorite. on toolshed.down.net someone claimed that stinkfist was about a man that dropped his nachos, followed by his dog eating them. it surprisinly made sense. tool = pimps | |
