there are some great metal albums that stoners need to hear, but rarely have, these are the greatest

- Amorphis: Tuonela, like pink floyd but metal

- Black Sabbath: Sabbath bloody sabbath No iron man or paranoid here, just ass kickingly heavy and mind destroyingly trippy metal

- Amorphis: Elegy, a cross between death metal, progressive metal and finish folk music. start with "weeper on the shore". one of the greatest metal epics you've never heard

- Katatonia: The Discouraged Ones. not 'catatonia'! dark, depressing, one of the best albums to listen to when you are down.

-Celtic Frost: Morbid Tales. Classic thrash, ripping headbanging death.

-Mercyful Fate: Don't Break the Oath. If you can handle King Diamond's falsetto vocals check out 'the oath' 'to one far away' 'come to the sabbath' man these are all classics....

-Shadows Fall: Of one blood. if you feel metal these days is not aggressive enough and not musical enough, run don't walk and get this record

Really awesome stuff. Takes some getting used to but it's very progressive.

I prefer Into The Pandemonium. Great album there. Celtic Frost are a favorite of mine.

Agreed, but again, I think Melissa is a better album.

Great band but I thought Of One Blood sucked. The new singer took the band in a direction that didn't jive with me. Somber Eyes To The Sky is a far superior album.

I like a lot of the Nordic metal. The dense orchestrations of Emperor and Burzum are incredible. Can kinda put an edge on a stone but sober I really dig this stuff. If I'm high, though, I really dig Bongzilla and Kyuss. Great bands in that Sabbath way.

Dude as much as you like metal you didnt have to start another thread, there is already a big one just 2 threads below.

And sepultura does kick arse, but their last album is not that great, Derrick is great at the vocals, but he is no match for Max Cavalera. The only song i liked from their last album was SepulNation. But their older stuff is much better like ROOTS, the song i really like are hatamahatta, refuse/resist, Roots bloody roots. And Max's band is not that great also, its just alright.

i did not mean to diss into the pandemonium or melissa. in fact the reason i didn't list them was i was too worried they were too far out for most people to deal with.

sepulutra also rules, roots, blood rooted and anything live are great for stoning out.

just the other day i got quite the kick out of listening to metallica's orion. hell any metallica instrumental is great for slipping away.

planet caravan is killer but the paranoid album needs to be taken as an album, cause athough the songs are good the number of genre's that they cover, from sludge to jazz, is increadable.

Dream Theater is great while high, especially "Metroplois Part 2: Scenes From a Memory." Then you can't rule out the classics like Sabbath, Maiden, or "Stranglehold" from the Nuge. Judas Priests' "Nostradamas" is really kick ass when high, or ever.
