Default Outkast

Are any of y'all into Outkast? I'm really into all types of music with the exception of rap, and while Outkast might be called rap, theres some true music in their stuff. Grab their album "Aquemini" from a few years back and listen to it all the way through, then grab their latest, "Stankonia". Its kinda amazing at times, its like funk rap with actual music and instruments and harmonies. And its not the steroetypical "what Ive got, how great I am, Ill kill you" themes that you hear too often in rap, theres some real storytelling and poetry in an Outkast album.
So, Outkast is really awesome, check it out, even if youve ruled out "hip-hop"

~peace~

Default ehhh...

they used to be one of my favorite groups, but as soon as they came out with stankonia i stopped listening to them. i just didnt like it at all. i don't think they've sold out, because they haven't, but their new album sucks. if you wanna listen to outkast at their best, download 'atliens', 'two dope boyz in a cadillac', 'extraterrestrial' or 'wheelz of steel'.

I get where youre coming from man, Stankonia is pretty mainstream and almost processed on certain tracks-but I still like it...

Thumbs up

that's cool...to each his own, right?

there is one song on stankonia that i think is incredible...i think it's called 'humble mumble' and it features erykah badu. that song sounds like the old outkast.

Stankonia is a great CD. I bought it halloween night, i remember it well..

Whenever we were in a car, it dosn't matter who's, i brought that cd with me, cause i just loved some of the songs on it. Defently buy it if you have a taste for hip hop.

Default sunny rap

The boring thing about some rap groups is when the guys take them selves too seriously, cover themselves with gold up to the teeth and make boring music. By making fun of themselves, taking a anti-idol of rap posture, outkast gets it right.
I think outkast does this cause they are not in any gangs - they are from Atlanta, far from the east/west coast strict rules.

I bought their compilation album, to me this was a intro to the universe of girls, weed, bizarre clothing and outkast fun. They sound almost like disco, sometimes even 2-step. I was looking for a sunny rap and i found it.

Outkast gets my 2 thumbs up.

Well, I'm not really a fan, but I've heard some of their older stuff and thought it was GENIUS, f-in AMAZING, especially for a genre like rap, but I still doubt I'd buy an album of theirs.
