I download MP3s to decide if I like the music enough to buy it. Downloading a whole CD is stealing it, just like downloading cracked software is stealing. I agree the record industry is greedy, but I don't see how ripping them off back is going to make it better. Worst of all, you are ripping off the artist. Not cool.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned mIRC yet. Thats been around longer than any of the napster type programs.
Its pretty handy because you can get any type of file you want be it video, program, mp3 etc..

I bought all my cds when I was younger. And it is way to expensive. Unless your rich you can't buy all the music you want. Thats a shame. We shouldn't have to pay these rediculous prices.

I've been downloading for 5 years, but I buy the cd's that I really like. That way the people who put out music that is actually good make money. Not the artists that the record companies tell the masses to love.

Besides, if the artists are starving on the streets its probabley because they wasted their money on fur coats and stretched limos.

When Metallica made the big deal about Napster, I laughed. Sure they are getting ripped off, but who doesn't get ripped off in this life. I'm sure he could still feed his family and buy lots of booze. And thats whats important.

I used to do IRC MP3s, (#MP3Cafe, baby!) but as I started to get into more obscure music, I found that they didn't have what I wanted, and Napster had just come out, so I switched.
